Pearson Senior Security, Firewall Engineer - REMOTE US in Concord, New Hampshire

Senior Security Engineer - Foundation Infrastructure


  • As part of the Private Cloud and Network team you will be Develop, deploy, and support Pearson’s proprietary hybrid-cloud interconnect platform.

  • Work closely with the internal tools team to develop monitoring of Pearson’s global infrastructure estate.

  • High level troubleshooting both Cloud based and traditional

Supervisory responsibilities

  • Project management experience managing implementations of new enterprise-wide technology initiatives. This may involve overseeing the work of third-party service providers.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a network security engineer or information security engineer.

  • Experience in creating and maintaining security systems.

  • Emphasis on Checkpoint, Fortinet and Mcafee systems

  • Thorough understanding of the latest technologies, security principles, and protocols.

  • i.e. WAF

  • Geo-location security tools

  • Identifying, monitoring, and defining the requirements of the overall security of the system.

  • Thinking outside the box - different ways to solve the existing threats and security issues.

  • Testing and checking the system for weaknesses in software and hardware.

  • Maintaining firewalls, virtual private networks, web protocols.

  • Understanding of the web-related terminologies and software such as web applications, web related protocols, service-oriented architectures, and web services.

  • Forensic follow up -Investigating intrusion and hacking incidents, collecting incident responses, and carrying out forensic investigations.

  • Ability to communicate and report network security incidents and issues to the upper management.

  • Developing tracking documents to note system vulnerabilities.

  • Reporting the security analysis and monitoring findings.

  • Implementing regulatory systems in accordance with IT security procedures, and policies.

  • Experience using automation frameworks and tools such as Git, Rundeck, Ansible, Terraform, and CloudFormation.

  • Confident, critical thinking problem solver with excellent written and interpersonal skills; ability to make sound decisions under pressure with limited information, and influence decision making at all levels.

Formal Education or Equivalent

  • Bachelor’s Degree - Computer Science, Cyber-Security , or equivalent experience.

  • CCNP Security (Cisco Certified Network Professional Security)

  • CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker)

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), etc.

  • AWS Solutions Architect

  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect
