Overview

The Senior Engineer – Windows Platform is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the production servers and handling requests and problem escalations from Service Desk and other departments. The engineer determines the severity of issues (triage), prioritizes issues, performs diagnosis of system and software components to identify root cause, and acts or recommends corrective action for resolution.

The engineer will work with other networks, database, software & quality engineering teams and technical product managers and vendors to clearly state problems, troubleshoot, diagnose and/or resolve complex technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure Linux OS on physical and virtual systems, patching them and maintaining them

  • Help in identifying, troubleshooting and resolve technical issues related to the Unix/Linux systems

  • Interfaces with hardware vendors to maintain and schedule repair of systems in a timely manner

  • Automate recurring manual tasks to improve the efficiency of the team

  • Implement effective problem management processes to identify and proactively remediate incident trends

  • Participate in the internal operational projects in migrating systems from physical data center to virtual data center

  • Perform capacity analysis of the Unix/Linux computing resources and notify the team for timely action

  • Perform vulnerability assessments on managed servers and take necessary actions to secure the environment from common threats and vulnerabilities

  • Participate in on-call roster to support critical and high priority issues during weekends

  • Lead small scale initiatives technically with other engineers

Requirements

  • 4+ Years of Linux/Unix administration experience with server hardening and performance tuning

  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English

  • Strong understanding on scripting using Bash and Python

  • Hands on experience in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and repository tools like GitHub, BitBucket

  • Willing to go extra mile to achieve the milestones when the demands arise

  • Hands on experience with AWS Systems Manager, Cloud Formation, Glue, Athena, QuickSite reporting, Lambda, and ECS will be advantageous
