Senior Systems Engineer

The Senior Systems Engineer is a member of the team who performs all aspects of configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the client devices across the site, client connectivity across the site, handling requests and problem escalations from Service Desk and other departments. Senior Systems Engineer performs diagnosis of system and software components to identify root cause, and takes action or recommends corrective action for resolution. Senior Systems Engineer will work with other networks, database, software quality engineering teams and vendors to clearly state problems, troubleshoot, diagnose and/or resolve complex technical issues.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Show accountability and end to end ownership of support and build issues across a variety of platforms and technologies

  • Provide solution to any complex IT related challenges in the organization.

  • Delivery focused with the ability to interact directly with internal customers as a service provider

  • Work alongside other departments to achieve company goals and visions.

  • Co-Managing, monitoring and daily IT operations across entire site.

  • Review completed tasks to ascertain compliance with standards

  • Supporting and an on-call rotation model.

  • Ensure that the company’s data and information are protected from unauthorized access

  • Keep up with trends in the constantly evolving information technology industry.

  • To Work ,Where relevant ,with the BCP Team to ensure effective security measures are being implemented

  • Install and configure Windows/ Linux / Apple on physical and virtual systems

  • Help in identifying, troubleshooting and resolve technical issues related to the Windows/ Linux / Apple /Android /Raspberry systems & devices.

  • Interfaces with hardware vendors to maintain and schedule repair of systems in a timely manner

  • Ensure system availability and performance by proactively monitoring the usage

  • Ensure change management processes, incident and problem management processes are followed

  • Implement effective problem management processes to identify and proactively remediate incident trends

  • Lead small groups of systems administrators


Technical Competencies

  • Having worked with defined procurement standards/ process in a global organization

  • Have working knowledge of SCCM and other imaging solutions.

  • Have working knowledge of Windows/Linux environments and be familiar with day to day operations of servers.

  • Have working knowledge of Networking environment and be familiar with day to day operations of ground level networking activities.

  • Have working knowledge of Avaya Communication Manager.

  • Experience of using Service Now or similar incident and change tracking tools

  • 4 years exposure to IT industry work experience in systems engineer capacity

Non-Technical Competency

  • Should have very good verbal & written communication skills.

  • Should be able to work independently with minimum supervision from onsite locations.

  • Should be willing to work on extended and irregular hours when required.

  • Strong self-starter, motivated to help TEAM in their deliverables

  • Should be able to carry out expected tasks without supervision

  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks.

  • Right attitude, a passion for customer service and good interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to make sound decisions in critical situations

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment

Educational & Professional Qualifications

  • Higher Diploma Or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field

  • CCNA Qalified

  • ITIL Foundation certificationwill be an added qualification
