Pearson Manager - Software Quality Engineering in Colombo, Sri Lanka

Summary: A Leader with proven expertise and passion in Quality Engineering, responsible for managing Large Scales projects, accountable for the overall Quality of the product, excel in People management and be able to provide Leadership for Functional and non-functional testing aspects. An Individual who is capable of independently leading multiple teams and managing multiple stakeholders, along with a passion for driving new Industry trends in the teams.

  • Adhere to Quality Engineering standards and guidelines

  • Own overall quality of the products/platforms

  • Ensure the existence of all required project documentation. Ensure that they are reviewed and followed by the teams, and they adhere to the defined software development process

  • Ensure best practices and guidelines are followed

  • Ensure on time delivery and timely escalations/update of risks, issues, statuses to the leadership

  • Eliminate any issues or blockers for the team during the test execution

  • Oversee department staffing, counselling, and mentoring activities

  • Identify training requirements by performing skill gap analysis for the teams and provide recommendations

  • Conduct performance appraisals for the team members by setting realistic goals

  • Maintain high team morale within the team.

  • Coach and mentor team members, encourage growth and career progression for them

Skills & Expertise:

  • Effective communication, presentation and negotiation skills

  • Sound knowledge in Agile Development and Quality Engineering Practices

  • Effective time management skills

  • Thorough knowledge in Software Quality Engineering and testing

  • Sound knowledge in software development, software development lifecycles and awareness of the industry trends

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills

  • Ability to self-learn and grasp the knowledge quickly

  • Ability to express and articulate the subject clearly & accurately

  • Should have an aptitude in reconciling business requirements

  • Broad knowledge in test management, test automation and performance testing aspects

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BSc in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent professional qualification

  • Post graduate qualifications (MBA, MSc, etc.) are an added advantage

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing a large pool of QE resources and teams

  • Not less than 12 years of total industry experience

  • Certified ISTQB Manager is an added advantage
