Associate Engineer - Software Engineering - ( 2011410 )
Responsible for the core software engineering tasks in a project team. The individual will be required to work with dynamic teams that are driven by project delivery goals. Should possess the drive to learn and continuously improve on work performances.
Candidate will play a key role with Platform Reliability team and work on analysis and providing automation improvement / optimization recommendations for Applications.

Works with product engineering (Dev, QE) and SRE teams to understand the requirement, writes code, develops automation tests /scripts to validate functionality of applications.
Understands the effective use engineering tools and technologies.
Accepts project task delivery responsibilities and demonstrate accountability to leadership.
Builds competencies in product and technology domain to the desired level.
Ensures that artifacts produced are of the highest quality, conforming to set or agreed upon standards.
Follows the Pearson practices and processes and motivates his/her team members to do so.
Collaborates with team members in project activities using the Scrum/Agile development process.
Promptly communicates issues, risks and concerns to leads or managers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science or equivalent.
Previous working experience in Cloud technologies, and in building automation would be a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Very good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and Design.
Good technical knowledge and experience in Java technology stack
Understanding of software development and the software development lifecycle, including Engineering Best Practices.
Good scripting skills.
Unit testing and test automation frameworks
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to self-learn and grasp the knowledge quickly
Ability to select appropriate technique and tools based on problems.
Desirable Experience or Knowledge in the following areas:
- Web Application Development
- Knowledge of Cloud computing
- UI/UX Technologies
- Source control systems
- Knowledge in UI and API test automation frameworks and tools (eg: selenium web driver/ cucumber/Postman).
- Experience in building automation to setup and maintain monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, metrics & reporting systems for fine-grained observability and actionable alerting.
- Monitoring skills, experience in New Relic, Cloud Watch and Graphana.
- Knowledge of CI/CD principals, tools and technologies
- Agile practices
- Web and Application Servers (WebLogic, Tomcat, IIS)
- Database design and programming
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Oracle Certification for Java (formerly sun certification for java)
Microsoft Certifications (MCPD/MCAD/MCSD)
AWS Architect or DevOps Certification is a plus
