Pearson Institute of Higher Education (PIHE) is a private higher education institution striving tobe recognised for quality education through our commitment to high standards of teaching andlearning, enhancing academic success, and ensuring a well-rounded student experience. The Academic advising lead contributes to by implementing and overseeing the academic support and employability strategy at a PIHE campus.

The respective role player is responsible for academic support and employability at the campus, liaises with all academic staff at the respective campus, while (s) he reports directly to the Academic Manager with a dotted reporting line to the National Academic Support andRetention Manager and National Employability Manager. The incumbent is a strong academic leader with extensive knowledge, experience and understanding of the private higher education environment and legislative framework in SouthAfrica.


  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Higher Education

  • Management and strategic planning experience within a tertiary education environment

  • Experience in a tertiary institution with active involvement in teaching and learning

  • Experience in dealing with academic support processes and strategies ; within the higher education community.

  • Experience with career advising, employability services and alumni.

  • Familiarity with the regulations governing Private Higher Education.

  • Ability to build relationships with industry leaders.

Minimum qualification:

  • A relevant degree preferably with an honours or studying towards an honours.

  • A relevant higher qualification in guidance or counselling or a relevant higher degree

  • or education qualification (e.g. HDE, PGCE, and PGCHE) will be an advantage.
