About UK Assessment & Qualifications
We are responsible for the delivery of nearly 4 million examination results per annum, including A-Level, GCSE, BTEC and T-levels for students in UK and International centres. Our in-house systems process every learner from registration to marking and certification, in a highly regulated business. We currently operate a hybrid estate of predominantly bespoke systems, with an ongoing strategic transformation programme to migrate from on-prem to cloud based, cost effective, scalable and resilient services.
About the Job
The position is for a Senior IT Project Manager, who is responsible for the delivery of projects within our current transformation programme.
About You
We’d ideally like for you to be a qualified Project Manager with significant experience of working on Agile delivery of bespoke software using Scrum or Kanban, however, software delivery experience is more important than Project Management certification.
Key Skills & Experience
Project Management of software delivery
Detailed knowledge & experience of the SDLC
Detailed knowledge & experience of Agile (Scrum, Kanban) & Waterfall methodologies
Delivery of projects within a Cloud environment
Delivery of in-house bespoke systems
Management of project budgets and resourcing
Management of project time, cost, quality and scope
Management of risk & issues
Production of key artefacts such as Project Initiation Documents, Highlight Reports and Project Closure Reports
Project Planning using Gantt charts, Milestones plans, Rolling Wave plans, and Critical Path Analysis
Meeting facilitation, both business & senior stakeholder meetings, and technical team meetings
Working knowledge of production operation of systems, including incident management and production changes.
Collaboration with globally distributed teams
Superb written and verbal communication skills
Desirable Skills & Experience
Relevant Project Management qualification, eg Prince 2, APMG, APM PMQ
Hands-on experience of technical roles relevant to the SDLC, eg Analyst, Tester
AWS Practitioner certification
Delivery of projects as an in-house PM (as opposed to as a consultant or 3rd party PM)
Experience of 3rd party procurement & contracting
Experience of writing business & benefits cases
Working knowledge of ISO27001, ITIL and Sarbanes Oxley
Working knowledge of analysis techniques such as Use Cases, Gherkin, wireframes, process flowcharts, the 5 Whys, the 5 Ws
MS Project, JIRA, Trello, Smartsheets
Line management or mentoring of junior PMs
All our roles are hybrid working; for this role that means visiting your base office no more than once a week with the possibility of occasional business travel to UK Pearson sites.
We actively encourage our staff to participate in at least 40 hours of training a year, and offer relevant AWS (Amazon Web Service) training and certification as part of this role.
