Pearson Senior UX Designer in Centennial, Colorado

Senior UX Designer

Description

Overview of the position

We need a Senior UX Designer/Product Designer to provide strong experience design for various education-related products at Pearson. We need someone who brings a consultative approach to projects. This designer quickly understands a stakeholder’s goals and problems, performs research, generates ideas, and knows how to balance an understanding of a stakeholder’s constraints with design guidance.

In this position, sometimes you’ll lead your projects with the support of our well-rounded design team (including dedicated researchers, content experts, creative technologists, and other designers), and sometimes you’ll support others on their projects. You’ll partner with product stakeholders and developers, do a lot of creative problem solving and user research, tons of sketching, plenty of interaction and visual design, and you’ll be supporting and modifying your designs as you work with developers to turn those designs into working software. Sometimes you’ll join in a Swedish fika (look it up!), eat pizza, taste-test some foreign candies, or chat about design principles over a latte at Peet’s.

If you prefer to take design orders and rock out quick comps, this won’t be the job for you. Rather, this role will fit you if you like to guide project teams to learn how to improve processes and understand design, if you enjoy balancing constraints with bold new ideas, and if you are comfortable pushing back when you spot unacceptable compromise on great design.

Who we are

You’ll be on a design team that impacts the learning outcomes and experience for millions of students and instructors as you explore new opportunities that personalized data and advanced computing technologies can provide. As a Sr. UXD on the Personalized Learning & Analytics (PLA), Advanced Computing & Data Science Learning (ACDSL) team you will work on student and instructor centered experiences focused on data driven, tailored learning experiences to students while developing new ways to reveal learning insights to instructors to improve learning outcomes for their students.

What you’ll do
  • Lead user centered design projects while always being the champion for users. Pushing back when needed

  • Facilitate and plan design related workshops and exercises at your discretion

  • Manage workload and timelines for design needs

  • Work alongside a research team to identify and support user research and testing opportunities

  • Gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to support design decisions.

  • Collaborate with cross functional product teams to discover project goals, align on scope, capture requirements, set expectations, and deliver design solutions

  • Lead other designers when working on larger projects

  • Iteratively create user flows, wireframes, and prototypes (InVision) for testing and production needs

  • Apply Pearson design guidelines and patterns to design solutions

  • Create pixel-perfect annotated handoffs via Sketch & Zeplin

  • Work with development teams to validate designs, discover technical constraints, and verify that the final code matches what we set out to design
