Primary Duties and Responsibilities + Planning and scheduling of outbound and inbound testing material to/from schools, distribution points and off-site scoring centers in a timely and cost effective manner. + Attend project start-up, status and post-project meetings providing required information. + Monitor carrier performance using carrier and Pearson performance tracking tools. + Maintain close communication loop with operations, product line and carriers to ensure materials flow supports production schedules. + Develop, monitor and coordinate schedules to ensure all due dates are met. Propose and implement alternative plans to meet contract requirements during crisis situations. + Maintain review of existing software programs, policies and procedures, carrier cost/service/technology offerings to ensure the transportation function stays current with industry. + Trace and expedite outbound and inbound shipments as required, providing status feedback to all interested parties. + Audit freight bills verifying proper rating, ensuring timely payment and proper allocation of internal charging.
Cross-Training and Additional Job Functions
During periods when normal assigned work volume is low, may be required to perform other job functions in other departments within the Operations organization. Employees performing other job functions will receive cross-training to ensure they meet position requirements. Additional position requirements may include but are not limited to: lifting up to 65 lbs., pushing carts weighing up to 600 lbs., standing or sitting for extended periods of time, performing basic computer functions.

Qualifications + Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; degree in Logistics a plus. + Prior experience in the areas of transportation/logistics essential. + Strong PC and software background with capability to expand. + Sound verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to interact well with others. + Good organizational skills, being able to monitor several projects at the same time. + Strong knowledge of transportation/logistics field including carrier base and carrier offerings. + Must be able to make adjustments as changes occur in the production flow. + Be able to work in a sometimes demanding environment with pressures from compact schedule requirements. + Thorough understanding of transportation/logistics in a manufacturing ERP environment. + Creative problem-solving abilities desired.
