Job Title: Transportation Analyst, Temporary

Job Family: Production/Operations

Sub-Function Band: Transportation


Education, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Prior experience in the areas of transportation/logistics is preferred

  • Strong PC and software background with the capability to expand

  • Sound verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to interact well with others

  • Good organizational skills, being able to monitor several projects at the same time

  • Some knowledge of transportation/logistics field including carrier base and carrier offerings

  • Must be able to make adjustments as changes occur in the production flow.

  • Be able to work in a sometimes demanding environment with pressures from compact schedule requirements

  • Some understanding of transportation/logistics in a manufacturing ERP environment

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Creative problem-solving abilities desired.

Organizational Relationships

Reports to: Transportation Manager

Direction Received From: Transportation Manager, Transportation Analyst

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and scheduling of outbound and inbound testing material to/from schools, distribution points, and off-site scoring centers in a timely and cost-effective manner

  • Monitor carrier performance using carrier and Pearson performance tracking tools

  • Maintain close communication loop with operations, contract management, and carriers to ensure materials flow supports production schedules

  • Trace and expedite outbound and inbound shipments as required, providing status feedback to all interested parties

Cross-Training and Additional Job Functions

Employees may receive cross-training in other functional areas to understand the impact of the Transportation Department on their work and opportunities for collaboration.
