The Global Product organization in Pearson designs and develops research-based products to deliver improved learner outcomes. The Efficacy and Learning division of the Global Product organization is looking for a Senior Qualitative Research Scientist to join our Learning Impact Measurement group. The core mission of the Efficacy and Learning team is to improve the impact that Pearson’s products and services have on learner outcomes. Thus, the position provides the opportunity to facilitate cutting-edge research that makes a substantial contribution to learning and instruction.
The role reports to the Vice President of Learning Impact Measurement and will work closely with product management, Learning Designers, Learning Scientists, Program/Delivery Managers, Data Engineers and product marketing.

This role is critical for the design and execution of impact evaluation research, the results of which are used for continuous product improvement, to help market and sell our products and services to new customers, and to support existing customers in implementing our products more effectively.
You will:
Provide recommendations for evidence-based product design and data instrumentation
Build and develop measures and metrics for learner outcomes like engagement, achievement, and progression
Locate, identify and/or extract usable data, both on- and off-platform
Conduct analysis, build solutions, and create visualizations to inform product improvement decisions
Translate research results into accessible insights for a lay audience
Collaborate with colleagues from different parts of the business
Influence product design decisions within a matrix organization
Set and manage diverse stakeholder expectations

Qualifications

Essential Experience
- You have enough breadth of experience conducting qualitative research in an applied setting to be responsive to novel challenges
Technical skills
You possess a toolkit of creative solutions for research and data challenges that includes:
Experimental, quasi-experimental and correlational research designs
Range of qualitative data collection and analysis approaches
Data cleaning and organization strategies
Fluency with qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti, Leximancer, MAXQDA, etc.)
Working knowledge of measurement principles
Data visualization techniques
Familiarity with data privacy and ethics considerations associated with human subjects research
Commercial skills
- You understand the challenge of balancing customer needs, organizational priorities, resource limitations, and research integrity in a commercial environment – and you have the innovative mindset to generate creative solutions.
Collaboration & Communication skills
- You are able to communicate clearly and accessibly about research with diverse stakeholder audiences. You can connect and maintain cooperative relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
Education
MA in Education Research, Program Evaluation, Educational Psychology, Cognitive Science or related field or equivalent academic experience is required
PhD is preferred
The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $85K-$88K and the position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
