The Talent Specialist, will play a role as an advisor to the business. Partnering with your respective stakeholders to actively plan, implement and manage all Talent Management activities in your specified area which includes Talent acquisition and placement (Pre-boarding & Onboarding/Induction), Assessments, Learning & Development, Talent and Performance Management in line with the People and Business Strategy.
What We Need You To Do:
Recruitment & Selection
Collaborate with HR Business Partners (HRBPS) and the business (Management) to understand, plan and execute hiring needs
Developing sourcing methods to find the best drivers of talent
Provide an excellent candidate experience
Proactively manage the life cycle recruitment process (effective advertising, candidate sourcing, assessments, interviewing, hiring practices, background verification, placement) to ensure that hiring managers have the necessary skill and applicant pools to effectively fill vacancies
Utilise digital sourcing tools to develop pipelines of internal and external talent against functional and talent strategies
Drive technology applications to improve process efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery
Focus on continuous improvements to increase hiring process efficiency. Use feedback from candidates and Hiring Managers to improve processes
Using expert knowledge to set up centralised, efficient and effective recruitment delivery from sourcing to onboarding in line with the People Talent strategy in order to attract and retain top diverse candidates
Ensure Hiring Managers education and awareness on process, policies and programs
Accountable for speed, cost and experience of key metrics through the recruitment cycle
Collaborate and manage recruitment administrative support with out-country partners as per guideline, in order ensure effective and efficient delivery
Project manage and deliver on key strategic acquisition requests, in addition to BAU sourcing requirements
Stay connected with external market factors as well as new best practices/trends affecting recruiting
Ability to understand the business and can effectively articulate the culture, business strategies and initiative
Manage relationships with vendors and partners (internal and external)
Maintain data, and report on all hiring requirementsEnsure legal and governance compliance for recruitment processes
Pre-boarding & Onboarding
Negotiating and manage verbal offers, after consultation with Management and HRBPS
Ensure completion of pre-onboarding activities to deliver candidate experience
Handover and consult with Hiring Manager (keeping the HRBPS informed), onboarding and induction criteria and requirements
Learning and Development
Collaborate and work through the HRBPS to deliver learning & development plans as well as programmes as per annual HR Operational Plan
Collaborate and work with the Talent Manager and Talent team to plan, customise or create standardized learning and development calendar and programmes
Conduct people planning, learning and development needs analysis annually and review quarterly with the HRBPS, respective line management and the Talent Manager to ensure we create an ‘Always learning’ environment
Facilitate and organise agreed learning and development initiatives
Oversee the reporting on the ATR and WSP for the SETA annually and drive internships, learnerships (future) and learning opportunities within your business area
Network and maintain learning and development supplier relationships, and develop networks externally
Comply with governance in terms of legislative and audit requirements
In collaboration with Corporate Affairs, communicate learning and development opportunities on a regular basis
Ensure that company’s EE policy and plan is adhered to in relation talent management principles
Attend EE & BBBEE meetings
Provide support to the learning & development specialist through verification process
Performance & Talent Management
Support, plan and actively advocate Pearson’s diversity goals and initiatives:
Conducting adhoc and proactive talent mapping upon business requirements
Organising, managing and continuously improving proactive talent events
Engage with potential candidates with a proactive plan based on local needs to maintain talent pools
Perform special projects as needed and perform all duties as deemed necessary as per the business requirements
What We Need You To Bring:
In-depth talent management knowledge that covers end-to-end recruitment and learning and development with an understanding of how this integrates across the HR practices and with organisation effectiveness
Strategic implementation, excellent communication and analytical skills
Ability to apply the business strategy into simple, relevant and proactive Talent Management
Able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally in the industry
Strong influencing skills to implement and drive the Talent principles across relevant touch points
Able to think creatively and seek innovative workable solutions
Collaborative approach to working with fellow team leaders and teams across the business, and externally where partnerships exist
Understand the importance candidate experience and able to operate with a customer focused mindset at all times
Strong business acumen, analytical and planning skills with a genuine desire to understand the way digital technology is impacting education
Strong sense of urgency and ability to drive and deliver results
Strong proficiency with all technologies – MS Office, Social, Web, Google
Valid driver’s license
Willingness to travel to any and all Regions within South Africa

Experience and Qualifications:
Currently a Talent or HR professional, with relevant experience in a large enterprise organisation
Proven history of recruitment and learning and development (full-lifecycle)
Advance knowledge and application of SA labour law and skills planning
Sound knowledge of SETA processes and requirements
Experienced in building of Talent capability in a business
Worked at all levels of a business including Senior Leaderships Team
Relevant HR 3-year diploma or degree
Honours degree advantageous
