The Assessment Services team at GED Testing Service (GEDTS) is seeking a qualified individual who will contribute to the delivery of high-quality products for our adult learners. The successful candidate will work with the Manager of Test Development in all areas of science assessment development, including interpreting the high school NGSS and Framework for end of course (EOC) exams, designing a variety of multiple-choice and technology-enhanced science items, reviewing and editing items, creating ancillary materials, constructing test forms, and leading all aspects of the science portions of the GED exams.

  • Develop and review content-specific test items, including multiple-choice and technology-enhanced items.

  • Develop item and test specifications, item development plans, test blueprints, and other ancillary documents.

  • Select, assign, manage, and train item writers, contractors, and educators to develop items based on standards, cognitive complexity, and item development best practices.

  • Use content authoring and technology tools to construct, track, and edit items.

  • Facilitate and support virtual customer meetings (e.g. content, fairness, etc.) and provide content assessment expertise.

  • Participate in activities related to test construction, composed test forms, and data review.

  • Participate in planning and scheduling activities.

  • Work closely with the Manager of Test Development, other content developers, psychometricians, and other Pearson/GEDTS groups.

  • Create documents analyzing/summarizing content alignment between GED Assessment Targets/Indicators and other content standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Travel is minimal.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, content-specific area, or equivalent degree required

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in large-scale EOC educational measurement required

  • Five years’ experience as a secondary science teacher preferred

  • Ability to support both science and mathematics EOC content development preferred

  • Strong content knowledge in EOC life science, physical science, and Earth and space science required

  • Ability to support high school EOC mathematics content development preferred

  • Experience in all phases of test development including item writing, editing, data review, and test building, providing feedback for continual improvement of test development required

  • Experience leading content and fairness/sensitivity meetings required

  • Strong knowledge of assessment best practices required

  • Strong knowledge of universal design best practices required

  • Ability to represent GEDTS and present at conferences preferred

  • Ability to identify problems and provide solutions to a variety of audiences required

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills required

  • Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to coordinate multiple activities and adapt to unexpected events required

  • Strong computer skills and broad knowledge of common software programs, strong technology skills, and the confidence necessary to work with unfamiliar programs required

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills required, including the ability to adapt to unforeseen requests or changes in priorities

  • Ability to work collaboratively and as a sole contributor, including the ability to provide unique solutions to simple, complex, and nuanced problems

  • Strong understanding and appreciation of business' role in adult education preferred
