North America K12 Learning Services Technology is constantly looking to add to our AMAZING team! Presently, we are in search of a Software Architect who has a passion for developing world class products, maximizing quality and building it once effectively!Successful candidates must have a full understanding of the tools, platforms and technologies used to develop exceptional products. Must have experience successfully guiding implementation of microservices architecture within a large scale internet application.
Utilizing experience in building highly scalable, cloud-native microservices-based applications using technologies like AWS, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, Node.js, Java, Cassandra and MongoDB
Guiding developers in the design of new software products for robustness and scalability
Reviewing major enhancements or technical changes to existing products
Undertaking initiatives to drive down the cost of development
Driving technical consolidation and reduce duplication of effort across teams
Identifying and training development teams on technical best practices
Supporting multiple agile scrum teams with planning, scoping, and creation of technical solutions for the new product capabilities, through to continuous delivery to production
Developing Proof-of-Concept projects to validate new architectures and solutions
Planning the refactoring and re-architecting of existing software where needed
Working with other architects to identify and create common reusable components
Applying test-driven development principles and architecting testable solution
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
BS in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education/experience; advanced degree preferred
3 years’ experience as an architect or lead developer for internet-scale web/mobile applications and public APIs
8 years’ experience developing internet scale applications using Java, Scala, and node.js
Experience with cloud technologies such as Puppet, Chef, RightScale, Docker, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Kubernetes
Mobile platform development experience a plus - iOS, Android, Windows
Experience with NoSQL databases, including MongoDB, Cassandra
Experience with relational databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL
Experience with web technologies including Angular a plus
Understanding of current software design principles and concepts
Brilliant problem solving, analysis, design, and testing skills!
Excellent communication abilities bringing clarity to all aspects of SW projects and understanding the business needs
