Pearson SEO Specialist in Boston, Massachusetts

CX Measurements & Analytics is a small agile team within the Digital Channels & Experience group.

We are looking for a SEO Specialist who can define SEO strategy and implement the tools and approaches through which improvements can be achieved across Pearson's primary ecommerce sites.

You would use data to analysis the wider SEO landscape, regularly reporting to leadership, key stakeholders, and product owners.

You would collaborate across the broader Digital Channels teams to help drive SEO-related cultural change within the company, explaining concepts and promoting team-wide best practice behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use analytics data to evaluate SEO, prioritize issues and develop improvement strategies.

  • Look at ways to leveraging SEO across sites.

  • Maximize search engine content discovery.

  • Manage content duplication due to site structure and language.

  • Investigate and improve individual Page/Product search engine performance.

  • Provide SEO requirements for new project work.

  • Perform SEO site audits to ensure the quality of implementation.

Must Have Attributes:

  • SEO : Experienced at implementing SEO strategies, with skills including redirects, spider control through robots.txt, tagging (e.g., Canonical, hreflang, structured markup), site maps, UTM and content optimization.

  • Analysis : Ability to review analytics data from sources such as GA, and to draw insights and conclusions. Familiar with conducting SEO audits using crawl tools (i.e. Screaming frog or similar). Use of Google Search Console and similar alternative data sources (e.g., MOZ) for keyword and ranking analysis.

  • Web technology : A good understanding of basic web principals such as HTML, CSS, accessibility, forms, iFrames, URL and domain structure, and understand the difference between server side and client-side coding.

  • Data manipulation : Proficient with using data in multiple formats. A basic knowledge of SQL preferred, and a good understanding of statistics fundamentals.

  • Communication and data visualization : Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should be proficient in data visualization ranging from simple excel graphs, through to dashboard construction (e.g., tableau).

Desirable Attributes:

  • Any experience in any of the following data science areas: Data Warehousing, AB Testing, web marketing and GTM/GA implementation.

  • Coding languages such as Python or R a big benefit.

  • Experience working as part of a large-scale Technical Project, using tools such as Jira or Confluence (or similar Agile project management tools).

  • Communication skills : You have excellent verbal communication skills, able to collaborate with other for problem solving and requirements gathering. You're happy to work with teams to education and spread ideas. Your written skills allow you to communicate documentation and collaborate through task management systems such as Jira or Confluence.

  • Time Management : You have excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, complex business environment, coupled with the aptitude to set priorities, manage deadlines, and make bold data-driven decisions.

  • Judgement and problem-solving skills : You are a proactive problem solver, naturally inquisitive, independent critical thinker. You have an inventive creative mindset.
