Qualifications

The Project Manager (PM) in Higher Education Services is a key liaison through all functional areas of project execution to digital delivery and/or release to printer for a broad list of customized projects across all disciplines with varying editorial, production, rights, and manufacturing requirements. The PM works with Senior Project Managers, field staff, authors/customers, freelancers, vendors, third party partners, and various in-house departments (Rights, Production Services/QA, Creative, Operations, Business Office, Inventory, Manufacturing,) to manage projects and expectations to successful completion and fulfillment.

The PM works independently to execute a high volume of individual projects and collaboratively with internal team members to ensure coordination among all the products/services for each customer. Working collaboratively to identify and understand customer goals and targeted functionality, the PM assists in determining how course content can be best represented through a variety of delivery media and to ensure print and media solutions are implemented to exceed customers’ expectations.

The Project Manager will manage the development and production processes of custom print, digital, and/or related multimedia titles from initial concept through implementation. The ideal candidate will have experience in sales support and technology solutions with the ability to work directly with our customers in the multiple product offerings available.

Candidate will be responsible for creating and managing multiple project schedules, identifying and resolving conflicts, supporting customers and external stakeholders, and validating project scope and budget.

This is a benefits-eligible, Full-Time status positionlocated in Boston, MA. Relocation is not available and this is not a remote position.

Requirements

Formal education or equivalent experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent years in education and successful work experience

  • Project management experience

  • Experience working with sales/field teams

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (Blackboard, D2L, Canvas, Sakai, or Moodle)

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Customer-facing soft skills

  • Excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to select the appropriate communication method in different situations

  • Proven ability to create documentation for production specifications

  • Ability to learn technology quickly and effectively train others

  • Knowledge of various support tools (i.e., SharePoint, Jira, BaseCamp)

  • Capable of prioritizing, organizing, and managing several ongoing tasks with minimal supervision

  • Ability to meet ambitious deadlines and deliver high-quality work on schedule with multiple projects running simultaneously

  • Ability to think creatively, adapt to circumstances, learn from co-workers, and share information and experiences

  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to make pragmatic, timely, and sound decisions

  • Proven negotiation, consensus-building, and conflict resolution skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Ability to work on a team and independently

  • Knowledge of project management methods and tools

  • High level technical writing and documentation skills

  • Understanding of industry standard technologies and specifications (i.e., LTI, QTI, Common Cartridge, API, etc.) and industry standard development and production processes

  • General knowledge of emerging internet-based technologies

  • Understanding of Pearson learning and content platforms (MyLabs, Mastering, CourseConnect, eText, etc.) a plus
