Purpose of this position
The editor is responsible for executing editorial standards and protocol for all core, offline, and elective online courses (lessons, assessments, multimedia, and ancillary materials).
Core tasks and responsibilities
Performs the duties, which include providing expertise on editorial style, standards, and processes; defining and updating the corporate editorial conventions to ensure that they evolve with changes in reputable, widely accepted editorial manuals; and evolving editorial processes to adapt to product needs in an Agile environment
Examines, researches, and resolves editorial issues; addresses escalated issues; responds to team members’ concerns; oversees editorial workload, productivity, and quality; and identifies and oversees work process improvement
Works with Manager of Editorial to define editorial styles and conventions that are accurate and evolve with changes in reputable, widely accepted editorial manuals (stays current on editorial trends)
Works with a cross-functional Agile team to complete projects and features
Becomes an expert with OBL’s editorial style guide and industry guidelines such as The Chicago Manual of Style to perform editorial functions to ensure content is accurate, consistent, etc.
Key relationships
Works with the Product Development managers to ensure the development of high-quality curricula and resources
Proposes and implements new ways of working or procedures within own area
Negotiates resources within team and may negotiate across teams to agree on common objectives
Maintains effective relationships within own and related areas
Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position can expect a starting salary range of $42,000-$48,000, and are eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan. Benefits available to eligible employees can be seen at: https://pearsonbenefitsus.com/

Qualifications

Makes operational or moderately complex decisions without guidance
Experience
Bachelor's degree
Minimum 3 years editorial experience, including experience editing & improving digital products
Experience of project management in a multi-disciplined and commercial environment
Basic HTML and web skills essential
Thorough understanding of information architecture principles and practices
Knowledge of Microsoft and Google business applications preferred
Advanced knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), Educational Management Systems, or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems preferred
Familiarity with SAFe Agile principles
Working knowledge of accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG 2.0) is a plus
Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office programs and the Google Suite; HTML experience is a plus
Proficiency with a variety of style manuals, including The Chicago Manual of Style
