Pearson Accessibility Specialist in Boston, Massachusetts
We’re looking for someone who is ready to take their in-depth knowledge of accessibility and usability on the web to help Pearson ensure that all users have the best experience possible. You should be passionate about accessibility and be ready to work with a wide variety of geographically distributed teams. Experience working with assistive technologies in Windows and Mac OS required.
High Level Responsibilities
Review Pearson web applications for accessibility
Review ePub 3 documents for accessibility
Work with other accessibility professionals at Pearson to maintain standards and evangelize accessibility for web applications
Organize requirements and work with developers to ensure that guidelines are followed and requirements are met in production applications
Understands the Business of Pearson:The Accessibility Specialist will be responsible for knowing and understanding the impact that accessibility has on Pearson’s business, including potential legal requirements that come into play in the multitude of courseware and software offerings that Pearson produce.
Efficacy:Accessibility plays a critical part in the efficacy or Pearson’s products. After all, you can’t call something effective if it’s not accessible to as close to 100% of the population as possible. The Accessibility Specialist will play a role in that by checking to make sure that our products are usable to everyone, regardless of abilities.
Collaboration:The Accessibility Specialist will be working within a geographically distributed team. Collaborating within that team is essential to the successful completion of the tasks given.
Learner-Obsessed:Every learner counts, and the Accessibility Specialist will work to ensure that every single learner of our products is given the best chance possible to complete their tasks.
Digital Change Maker:Everyone at Pearson is emboldened to help bring learning into the digital age. We don’t want to just make the best products that are accessible, but we instead want to make the best accessible products. The Accessibility Specialist will be expected to bring innovation to the table, working in new ways and coming up with new patterns and solutions to make learning great for everyone.
Deliver reviews, code samples and other things that are needed to get the targeted products accessible for all users as specified in the given requirements. All other tasks as assigned.
