Pearson Visual Product Designer - Remote in Bloomington, Minnesota


Pearson VUE is disrupting the way individuals get their certification or licensing, by providing the next generation of testing and assessment solutions where we are focused on creating a frictionless and seamless testing experience.

We’re looking for a Visual Product Designer to support the design and development of digital testing applications. You'll partner closely with our UX Design, Product, and Engineering teams and will be charged with rapidly improving the current experience. You will be challenged in an organization that values vision, execution, and persistence. You will take ownership of our product by solving complex problems in simple, elegant ways.

General Responsibilities

As a direct report to the VP, Customer Experience, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Develop creative solutions that align with broader product strategy and reflect a deep understanding of our users.

  • As a visual designer, you can instinctively weave iconography, typography, color, space and texture together to simplify and improve how our customers navigate our products and services

  • Partner with UX designers to improve feature design concepts through visual communication.

  • The ability to craft beautiful designs and delightful, useful, and usable experiences with strengths in visual design, interaction, and motion design

  • An understanding of the broader UX practice and a story about your process; you can illustrate how you work with narrative, artifacts, successes, and challenges

  • Experience partnering directly with Product Management and Engineering teams, with an understanding of their priorities, constraints, and how UX informs their work streams

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (UX designers, user researcher, enterprise architects, product managers and engineering) throughout the planning and development life cycle.

  • Build components for the team in Axure.

  • Contribute to the expansion and evolution of our design language system.

Key Accountabilities

  • Articulate and deliver design artifacts including wireframes, prototypes, user flow diagrams, and information architecture for web and mobile experiences

  • Experienced at using design and prototyping tools to translate ideas into working products (e.g., Axure, Sketch, Figma, InVision).

  • Design and execute on various areas within our product simultaneously

  • Expert in creating compelling visual designs with consideration for typography, color, iconography, interaction, and motion.

  • Lead a research-focused effort of rapid iteration, ensuring usability and product consistency

  • Understanding and advocating for all user needs clearly and concisely amongst a variety of audiences from peers to leadership

  • Define, measure, and ingest data to identify success, opportunities, and business impact

  • Think holistically about the user journey and product and learner ecosystem Contribute to an open and collaborative UX culture

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years professional experience as a visual designer

  • An outstanding portfolio, showcasing a foundation in storytelling, illustration, typography, visual, UI design and motion

  • Expertise in Figma, Axure a plus, Powerpoint/Keynote, Illustrator and image editing software such as Photoshop

  • Understanding of motion and animation software such as After Effects, Keynote’s animation capabilities or other

  • Understanding of UI principles for desktop and mobile applications

  • Experience working and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid-growth environment

  • Ability to execute high quality work in a fast paced environment – strong adaptability

  • Experience with prototyping as a means to explore and convey design solutions
