Pearson Product Manager in Bloomington, Minnesota
The Product Manager, Educator Learning position is a leadership role on our Products team within the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson. Ultimately, the role of the Product Manager is to ensure the successful design and delivery of our next-generation products for educator learning and assessment.
We are looking for exceptional candidates to strengthen our product design and delivery team who have a bias for action; creatively engage in design thinking about both their products and their process; relentlessly center user experience in their product management practices; and are comfortable finding comradery and connection among an ambitious team striving to deliver high-performing products.
Key responsibilities of this position include strategic collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to successfully facilitate the product development and implementation lifecycle; close partnership with our Client Services, Marketing and Business Development teams to ensure product requirements and deliverables are met; and engaging in continuous discovery internally and externally to determine user needs, competitor’s offerings, and market trends.
This position reports to the Vice President of Products, Evaluation Systems.
This role will serve in a hybrid remote / office format working remotely with in-office activities required, as needed, in Pearson’s Hadley, MA office. Occasional travel required.
Responsibilities include:
Define and facilitate the product implementation strategy with development team
Effectively communicate the product implementation strategy to internal and external stakeholders
Set clear vision for the product that can be communicated to stakeholders with ease
Aggressively evaluate and prioritize development tasks in pursuit of the product vision, fostering a shared investment in the pursuit of the product vision across the product development team
Embody ownership of the product by driving innovative ideas, solutions, process, and products with decisive action
Satisfy the needs of our customers – better yet, delight them with the best learning and assessment products they have ever experienced – and then do it again
Build an incredible culture on your product development team by consistently executing sound product practices and delivering
Ensure requirements are robustly interrogated, agreed to, and communicated between and amongst customers, internal or external partners, and your development team as appropriate
Provide expert product design guidance to the product development team
Develop and maintain product documentation and support processes that enable project and program teams to complete client onboarding across products with little to no support
Suggest workable solutions to development teams with consideration for existing and new users
Assist in the development of test cases, and quality process documentation
Partner closely with Client Services, Marketing, and Business Development teams to ensure the product vision, roadmap, and current functionalities are well understood
Enable Marketing and Business Development teams to successfully sell our products and earn new business by providing them necessary technical expertise and coaching on the products
Ensure implementation schedules are tracked and communicated internally and externally
Participate in marketing activities, conferences, and discussions with thought leaders and market analysts in the interests of our products, customers, and users
Assist with the creation of product marketing materials including how-to demonstrations and new release feature showcases
Study competitors’ services and products to gain market insights and a competitive advantage
Continually explore and advocate for new ways of improving our existing services and products
Job Qualifications
Education, Skills, and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Learning Design and Technology or comparable experience
PMP certification, PMP learning certificate, or the ability to demonstrate an understanding and application of agile, waterfall, and other Project Management Institute (PMI) principles and methodologies
Proven track record of thriving in fast-paced, high-performing team
Able to formulate and implement global strategies for products in early stage of product lifecycle
Able to distill product roadmaps into digestible and relevant presentations to key stakeholders
Able to distill strategic goals into incremental steps for development teams
Proven track record of excellent customer support and representation of brand
Proven success in relevant work experience as a product, program, or project manager
10+ years of professional experience with educational products or programs
Strong project management skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to stakeholders of a variety of levels
Demonstrated ability and desire to successfully work on a virtual team
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, along with strong listening, negotiation, and facilitation skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
Experience working with Smartsheet or similar project management applications
