The purpose of this part-time (day-shift) position is to cover various modules within the Commerce specialisation arena of insurance. The incumbent must have experience within the following areas specifically: commercial short-term insurance practice, data analytics and underwriting, and personal insurance in the digital age. Applicants with insurance industry experience will be considered favourable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitation of learning, lecturing, tutoring, assessments and research.

  • Setting and marking of assessments.

  • Preparation of notes and additional study materials.

  • Quality assurance of learning material.

  • General academic administration.

  • Manage at-risk students.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities.

  • Contribute and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies, including technology enhanced learning methodologies.

  • Participate in research activities and activities and projects to keep abreast of newest developments in trends in subject fields.

Core competencies:

  • Working knowledge and skill on Microsoft Office and Google suite.

  • Administrative skills and experience.

  • Organizing, planning as well as problem solving skills.

  • The incumbent must pay significant attention to detail and adhere to deadlines.

  • Analytical ability.

  • Interpersonal skills and communication skills.

  • The candidate must display patience, approachability, assertion and composure at all times.

  • The candidate must place the student(s) at the centre of everything they do (customer-centric approach).

  • Presentation skills will be an advantage.

Experience:

  • Due to the specialised nature of this position, a Bachelor of Commerce degree with insurance-related industry experience will be considered.

  • Degree or post-graduate specialisation in Insurance related subject matter and prior lecturing experience will be an advantage.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Commerce with relevant insurance industry experience.
