Position Summary
The Data Operations Manager is part of a team responsible for supporting Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), custom reporting, and the on-demand data needs of the organization. Under the direction of the Manager of EDW Systems, you will oversee the planning, designing, developing, installing, testing and supporting the complete data management solutions to address ongoing business reporting needs and new opportunities. You will also provide direction to developers overseeing the development, unit testing, and documentation for the developed solution and develop strong customer relationships for ongoing business. For success in this role, you will be experienced with the Cloud-based Data Solution Architectures, Software Development Life Cycle (including both Agile & Waterfall), Data Engineering and ETL tools/platforms, and data modeling practices.
Responsibilities
Managing teams’ workload and directly participating in resolving the high priority support incidents when necessary.
Enabling the team to react to the customers’ requests, support incidents on time, and resolving them fully and permanently.
Coaching, counseling, and disciplining team members, making sure the team delivers the work on time with quality, communicating job expectations, and appraising their performance.
Working with stakeholders including cross-teams, business users, and executive teams, and assisting them with data-related technical issues.
Estimating the effort and cost for small to medium enhancements to the existing applications -or- new projects.
Developing policies and procedures and enforcing them effectively within the team.
Helping the team in converting the functional requirements into technical specifications documenting the design, deployment, and operating procedures.
Identifying the problems, evaluating the trends, recommending the strategies to meet the organization’s goals.
Soliciting and responding to feedback while gaining commitment and support.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements
Due to the nature of this position, the applicant will need the ability to work from home or during off-hours as necessary. Candidates must have:
In-depth knowledge in the Data warehousing and BI concepts, 8-10 years of total IT working experience, and a minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a technical lead or as an IT manager.
Knowledge in SQL & PL/SQL development experience in Oracle and MYSQL
Knowledge of Java and/or Python
Knowledge of Cloud platforms, GCP or AWS
Ability to think abstractly, at the same time excellent attention to detail.
Ability to manage people, resolving conflicts, identify, report, and manage risks
Proficient in thinking critically and challenging norms
Strong verbal and written communications skills (English)
Persistence in the face of challenges
Understanding of ITIL principles
Strong customer service orientation – “customer is always right” attitude
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems or related disciplines
Required for the interview:
- The ability to demonstrate work experience by providing report examples and source code.
