Job Description/Roles & Responsibilities

We expect our Architects to support our growing teams who will be influential, directional, collaborative, and advisory to technology staff, product, and business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you are directly responsible for the overall architecture, architecture best practices and compliance, working closely with product management, architects and engineering teams of multiple programs of Pearson.

  • You will build the architecture blueprints for the product that you would own.

  • You will be building internet scale architecture to handle millions of users at any given point of time.

  • You will be translating complex business and non-functional requirements into strong architecture.

  • You will be closely working with engineering teams in helping them manifesting the solutions.

  • You will consider the security, performance, scalability and optimization as the driving factors while building the architecture.

  • You will lead and facilitate architectural reviews and technology roadmap sessions with the product and technology staff.

  • You will be presenting and discussing on the platform and product architecture in a forum of architects, that will help improve the architecture further.

  • You will identify, mentor, and manage next level architects and support the growth of architecture organization.

  • You will be contributing to the architecture organization and to Pearson Lanka organization, driving architecture frameworks, technology initiatives from a strategic perspective.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Preferably also a Master’s degree.

  • Years of experience over eight (8) years in software engineering and design - including around three (3) years of experience as an Architect or a role of senior technology leadership leading team(s) from design/technical front.

  • TOGAF® Certifications, Cloud (Vendor) Certifications and ITIL are considered an advantage.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience on Cloud technology, Java Technologies, NoSQL Datastores and Open Source technologies.

  • Knowledge of architectural frameworks, architecture patterns and best practices — including capabilities such as UX, Security, API, etc.

  • Demonstrated expertise in problem solving, analytical skills and technical innovation.

  • Ability to leverage teams dive into new technological and/or product domains aligning with organizations technological and product vision.

  • Experience in Agile practices, SAFe.

  • Excellent communication abilities in English.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people, and business aspects with technical people. Able to express complex concepts in plain language.

  • Ability to work with a variety of internal and external groups.
