Pearson Data Analyst, eCommerce - Remote in Austin, Texas

Pearson’s Global Digital Channels & Experience group is part of the Direct-to-Consumer eCommerce group at Pearson and is looking for a Data Analyst to define and create business requirements and determine improvements for product and customer data functionalities in consultation with business stakeholders, Product and Design teams, and get them implemented by partnering closely with the Data and Engineering teams. In addition, s/he will also work on projects related to risk management and control.

This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong understanding of business analysis best practices, SDLC-oriented documentation, and experience collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders. S/he is expected to have a strong working knowledge of data analysis best practices, experience with statistical software and strong written and verbal skills, to actively contribute towards building a world-class direct-to-consumer experience, grounded in quality data. Experience with eCommerce fraud management and/or OFAC is desired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze product and customer data, derive relevant insights, address related issues and present solutions back to stakeholders to drive awareness and build buy-in

  • Collaborate with stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, Product, Engineering, Customer Support, Legal) and cross-functional team members to gather and define requirements for initiative-driven projects that involve Order, Product and/or Customer Data

  • Analyze eCommerce order data to identify potentially fraudulently placed orders and chargebacks. Create processes to strengthen anti-fraud practices and improve customer experience

  • Assist in the implementation and administration of certain aspects of Pearson’s OFAC Compliance and Anti-fraud Systems, executing investigations of material/hits as needed

  • Apply technical expertise to ensure the quality and accuracy of data from the source to the end systems and present it effectively to help our team make informed decisions and improvements

  • Work with Product Managers, Designers, Marketing/Sales stakeholders and Engineering to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data governance strategies

Ability to comfortably work independently and collaboratively

Must Have Attributes:

  • 3+ years in data analysis, fraud management or similar role in Software, SaaS or Technology related industries

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

  • Ecommerce fraud prevention experience and/or working knowledge of OFAC regulations is a plus

  • Experience with data analytics concepts and best practices and proven ability to specify and drive implementation of best-in-class solutions. Specifically, prior experience/knowledge of Hybris and Oracle MDM is a strong plus.

  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of web analytics framework (preferably Google Analytics)

  • Experience with Data Analysis tools to organize and review data outputs from various systems

  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • Excellent spoken, written communication and perceptive listening skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and collaborative environment, in planned and unplanned setups.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and execute tasks independently

  • Experience with SQL, JIRA and Confluence is a must; knowledge of Aha! (or other product planning tools), Statistical analysis tools and programming frameworks (XML, ETL) is preferred. Understanding of Agile scrum, SDLC methodologies is desirable
