Develop and review test items, including performance based tasks, for large-scale alternate assessments for students with cognitive disabilities across multiple content areas and grades.
Develop item, passage, and test specifications, item development plans, test blueprints and other ancillary documents.
Interpret standards, test blueprints, and item development plans.
Classify test items according to pre-specified content dimensions and ensure the accuracy of content coding, keying, and item validations.
Provide item source references and copyright research.
Help select, assign, manage, and train item writers and educators.
Facilitate and support customer meetings and provide alternate assessment expertise.
Facilitate activities related to test construction and review of composed test forms.
Consult with the customer as required, including participation in planning, status, review meetings, etc.
Work closely with test development managers, other content developers, psychometricians, and other Pearson groups.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Some travel required.
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or equivalent experience required; Master's degree is desired.
At least five years experience in the field of Special Education required.
Expert knowledge of special education, including national trends and regulations, required.
Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills and must be able to identify problems and provide solutions to a variety of audiences including both sophisticated and naive customers.
Must have excellent planning, organizational, and problem solving skills and ability to coordinate multiple activities and adapt to unexpected requests.
Must have strong technology skills including working with Microsoft Suite, Adobe Pro and confidence necessary to work with unfamiliar programs.
Some experience in large-scale educational measurement, especially alternate assessment development, is preferred.
General knowledge of all phases of the development, processing, scoring and reporting of large-scale assessments preferred.
