Connections Academy by Pearson is looking for a detail-oriented and customer-driven Supervisor, Email Operations and Optimization to be a part of our innovative team. This role will be responsible for coding and building HTML campaigns, scheduling emails, segmenting data, list management, journey automation, multi-variant testing and performance monitoring. Quality Assurance is also a significant task within the role and will require implementation of a QA program to ensure flawless email campaign execution regardless of scale and complexity.

The Supervisor, Email Operations and Optimization will manage one junior email developer and any email development partners. This position will also play a pivotal role in the development and management of our marketing automation tools/framework. The position can be based in Columbia, MD or remote and requires a passionate individual obsessed with creating exceptional customer experiences.

What You'll Do

  • Hands on campaign production (email development, device rendering, dynamic rules) and deployment (content set up within deployment tool, applying segmentation, deployment scheduling, quality assurance check)

  • Code responsive emails for various promotional, lifecycle, and transactional campaigns using the latest HTML, CSS, and JavaScript email oriented best practices

  • Create highly personalized and scalable dynamic content modules using Salesforce Marketing Cloud

  • Experience building triggered email architecture from end to end (building event triggers, APIs, etc.)

  • Utilize Moveable Ink platform for image personalization, live optimization and advanced campaign testing

  • Being aware and having a proactive, mindful “eye” to problem identification and mitigation (associated with execution of marketing automation campaigns); capable and confident problem-solving skills; recognizing when and to whom to escalate and issues; utilizing knowledge and experience to avoid repeat/similar problems in the future

  • Ensure all work being produced meets the highest standards, error free and delivered on time

  • Act as a mentor for junior developer and offshore team

  • Drive the development team to use new and better technology

  • Create best-practices standards and documentation

  • Assist creative team to push boundaries on design possibilities and help develop an email design system

  • Manage production tasks and deliverable milestones in collaborative PM tool

What You'll Need

  • 5 years of email marketing experience

  • Expert knowledge in email HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

  • Experience creating responsive, adaptive, and dynamic emails

  • Experience with an enterprise level ESP (Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred) and project management tools

  • Proficient with data – understanding relational data architecture and data types

  • Working knowledge and understanding of media queries and email scripting languages such as AMPscript or JavaScript

  • Be able to work independently as well as collaborate with other members of the marketing team to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously and successfully, without sacrificing attention to detail

  • Be an excellent critical thinker with creative solutions to solve challenges and meet business requirements

  • Understanding of CAN-SPAM and other legal regulations

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop and Dreamweaver)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Salesforce Certification a plus)

  • Strong background in quality assurance process

  • Previous experience with A/B or multi-variant testing and email optimization

  • 1-2 years of management experience

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $80K - $100K. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
