The Evaluation Systems group of Pearson offers dynamic teacher licensing and performance assessment solutions. Our custom teacher licensure testing programs are 100 percent aligned to state standards. The Evaluation Systems group of Pearson works with multiple partners, including other Pearson groups, to develop and maintain highly scalable Web applications. These applications share information between Pearson groups, customers, and clients. Development and testing follow the agile methodology.

The Software QA Analyst is responsible for conducting QA activities, including, analyzing applications and requirements, developing test strategies, creating test case documentation, and executing testing. The successful candidate will have proven experience ensuring that complex software applications are performing as designed.

As a member of the QA team, the QA Analyst may work with off-site QA resources. Working in teams as well as independently setting and maintaining plans and schedules is a major component of this position. You will collaborate with the product manager, business analysts, ITPMs, developers, and testers within and across teams.


  • Review requirement specifications, designs and develops test plans based upon functional and design specifications, maintains and reviews software test plans, test data and test cases

  • Define and conduct functional, integration, regression, user acceptance testing, analyze and document test results to ensure that all system deliverables meet quality objectives in functionality, performance, stability, security, accessibility and data quality

  • Create, update, and review defect tracking logs and work with project teams to ensure that all defects are resolved across all projects.

  • Perform scenario-based testing on projects that can span multiple software applications, architectures and partners

  • Manage and track testing timelines and report progress to management

  • Perform ongoing risk analysis and optimize test strategy

  • Plan daily activities and report project quality status

  • Work collaboratively with product and project team members. Deliver effective technical execution and communication as a member of Agile teams

  • Coordinate creation of test plans and test cases with off-site resources

  • Act as a liaison with off-site QA resources to monitor activities and progress

  • Contribute to QA process improvements


Required Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in computer science or related technical degree

  • Minimum three years of experience in software development testing processes and methodologies for Web-based applications

  • Strong practical QA principles and practices including test strategy, planning, execution and automation

  • Working knowledge in SQL/ RDBMS

  • Demonstrated experience using various testing methodologies, including agile testing processes and procedures

  • Demonstrated experience in defining test plans and strategies and executing testing processes

  • Demonstrated good judgment in implementing methods and techniques for results and applicability

  • Experience using quality management software to document and track testing activities

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and testing

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the system development life cycle

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team based environment

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work under pressure and in high stress situations

Highly Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of WCAG accessibility testing

  • Working knowledge of Rally Software

  • Experience in automated testing and data validation

  • Experience working in a heterogeneous software development and deployment environment (including Linux and Windows experience)

  • Sound knowledge of Java and Windows technologies

  • Strong familiarity with Web production, design, and content issues (HTML, DHTML, XML) highly desired

  • Experience with integration projects, particularly familiarity with Web Services, SOAP, and asynchronous messaging solutions highly desired

  • QA certification (CSTE/CSQA/CSQE)
