Regional Sales Manager, Western Canada


The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales and increasing market share while managing expenses and sustaining corporate profits. This position is responsible for managing a team of sales staff as well as driving the corporate initiatives across the region. The Regional Sales Manager will ensure a fully staffed region and will provide professional training and development on an ongoing basis of both sales and technical skills. The Regional Sales Manager will assist in executing sales initiatives, hold and conduct meetings to communicate incentives and campaigns and drive behavior to achieve sales success. This position has a highprofile and is expected to carry the Pearson story and lead the transition to digital and solutionsales. The Regional Sales Manager must work well with the sales management team,collaborate with the marketing department and responsibly reflect and lead their team with theimplementation of strategic plans providing feedback on our markets.


  • Develop and maintain annual and quarterly sales plans, budgets and strategies, as well as develop and track metrics from lead through close to measure success of sales initiatives.

  • Lead, recruit, coach and support a high-performing sales team (including contractors), and grow the team effectively as needed to support new initiatives. Ensure delivery of an effective onboarding program and ongoing sales training.

  • Collaborate with the marketing and product development teams to frame priorities and execute strategic plans. Collaborate on alignment between lead generation, marketing campaigns, and overall sales activities.

  • Represent the company and support the sales team in externally facing customer engagements, negotiations, and relationships.

  • Assist in the development and execution of regional and national sales meetings.

  • Manage revenue targets and expense budgets.


  • This person will be an experienced leader with proven track record working in sales, preferably in the K-12 educational space.

  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and successful work experience

  • Minimum of five years of publishing representative experience and / or four (4) years of relevant sales management experience with demonstrated success at all levels in the K-12 education space. Confident in your ability to service executive level customers and communicate internally at similar levels.

  • Proven, results-orientated leader, able to show proof of taking sales plans and initiatives from planning to quantifiable results.

  • Proven experience with sales budgets, P&L, and forecasting.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with attention to detail and quality.

  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication, engagement and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to recruit, manage, train and motivate an exceptional sales team in support of the strategic objectives and business initiatives. Able to provide coaching and feedback in a constructive manner.

  • Have an open communication style with a strong teamwork orientation and the ability to foster energy and enthusiasm at every level.

  • Some travel is required.
