Background Information:

Youwill be required to work as part of an international team to maintain and growPearson international qualifications within new and existing schools andcolleges in Southern Africa.You will be responsible for identifying, developing, managing andgrowing key accounts.The role will demand knowledge of Pearson’sEdexcel, BTEC and LCCI qualifications, as well as global schools products andTeacher support services to drive sales of an integrated solution. A keyresponsibility of the role will be to provide Pearson country offices withGlobal Schools product training and sale support to grow open market sales inline with regional strategy.

Therole will demand innovation in the way we support and grow our customer base,as well as in our communication with stakeholders which include students, schools,universities, government ministries and international organisations. Thesuccessful applicant will be confident communicating and building relationshipswith a wide range of people at varies levels.

The role will requirefrequent travel. Candidates must have avalid drivers licenseand passport and be able totravel to the following countries:

South Africa,Malawi, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland and Mauritius

The role will require the jobholder to:

  • Supportexisting schools and colleges effectively

  • Attract newschools and institutions to our qualifications and global schools resources

  • Manage customers at all levels and develop relationships with keyaccounts to identify sales opportunities.

  • Formulatebusiness and marketing plans

  • Develop relationships to influence key stakeholders includinggovernment and non-government organisations as well as educators to positionPearson as the preferred education solutions provider.

  • Achieve andexceed monthly, quarterly and yearly targets as set out by management

  • Apply acustomer-centric approach to service and support

  • Design andimplementation of key marketing activities and promotions with support ofMarketing Manager

  • Secure newprogression routes and recognition for learners with localuniversities/employers as required by customers.

  • Develop timely and accurate forecasts for assigned accounts and revisethese as appropriate throughout the year.

  • Proactively keep up-to-date on industry and customer specific issues.

  • Act as an ambassador for Pearson in the region, highlighting broaderPearson capability where relevant

  • Capture insights – feedback research data, customers andlearners, competitor insights to the Portfolio and marketing teams for futureproduct and service development.

Previous experience:


  • Experience in educational product/service sales inSouthern Africa

  • Broad knowledge of the education sector and trends thatcreate business opportunities.

  • Experience of key account management

  • Awareness of various international curriculum


  • Teaching experience, especially with IB (PYP, MYP, DP)or GCSE/IGCSE/GCE exams would be an asset.

Education, Qualification, training:


  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent.

  • Fluent in English.

  • IT literate e.g.:Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, andPowerPoint).
