The Role:

The VP Software Developmentis accountable to drive large-scale, high-profilestrategic and operational initiatives inside the technology organization toincrease operational efficiency, improve existing service delivery, and createnew service models that add to Pearson’s strategic goals as well as competitivedifferentiation in the marketplace.

Portfolio delivery will be essential for thisrole, and will require leading cross-functional teams across the line ofbusiness and geographies to apply strategic frameworks, business process andorg redesign, enabling functions, information and analytics, all to optimizePearson’s business operations.

Additionally this role will be expected to developorganization wide policies for the Software Development team that develops thesystems that align with the product group and chief architect's goals. Thisposition will have full authority in the implementation of newpolicies. This role is responsible for the strategic development ofsoftware development plans and objectives that support the design, developmentand implementation of innovative software products using strong technicalskill-set and creativity.

This role will work with wide latitude forun-reviewed action or decision making. It may determine methods andprocedures on new assignment and thereby set new precedents. Throughassessment of intangible variables, identifies and evaluates fundamentalissues, providing strategy and direction for a major functional area.

Qualifications

What’sRequired:

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required; MBA preferred12 years relevant experience (which includes management experience)

This role facilitatesexecutive business management and the management of staff. It is a sensitiverole that enables the CTO and Executive team to focus time on the growth of thecompany, and in support of such spends time troubleshooting and nurturing thedaily needs of the technology organization to ensure the achievement ofstrategic initiatives and organizational harmony. This includes but is not limited to:
