Responsibilities

  • Conductlarge-scale data mining to inform and advance product development

  • Developrobust and efficient computational methods and software tools for transformingmessy data into actionable information

  • Participatein the discovery and the development of learning and analytical models andmethods to enhance the intelligence of online learning products

  • Usestatistical/computer programming skills and programs such as SAS, R, Python, SPSSto link data collected on-platform with off-platform data to create data setsand apply analytical models that demonstrate relationships betweencharacteristics of learners, their navigation through Pearson online learningproducts and learner outcomes

  • Adhereto data privacy and security guidelines and regulations analysis, captureprogress, trends, and make appropriate recommendations and conclusions toimprove Pearson product development

  • Builddata expertise and own data quality for allocated areas of efficacy data

  • Createefficient processes for acquiring, extracting, integrating, transforming, andmodelling data to derive useful information

  • Enableproduct and Efficacy & Research teams to evidence the efficacy of key productsand services in the higher education portfolio and to generate evidence ofimpact on learner outcomes

  • Visualizeevidence of impact on learner outcomes

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Amaster’s degree or higher in computer science, statistics, mathematics, datascience or a related field is a must. A minimum of 2-3 years of industry and/orresearch experience beyond the master’s degree

  • Proficiencyin data cleaning, data mining and data visualization

  • Experience with educational data

  • Experiencewith SQL and relational databases

  • Proficiencyin applied linear and multi-level models; model diagnostics and sensitivityanalyses; applied multivariate analysis; predictive modelling; segmentationanalyses, and experimental design and time series

  • Fluencyin using scientific computing tools like SAS, R, Python, SPSS

  • Exceptionalproblem solving skills, willingness to learn new concepts and methodologies asneeded, quickly, and apply them to new problem solving scenarios

  • Abilityto work remotely with a high degree of autonomy while also contributing toworking in a dispersed but collaborative team on high impact problems

  • Excellentcommunication skills

  • Understandingof Pearson’s efficacy agenda
