SUMMARY - The Research Assistant is an internship role in the Global Product Organization, Efficacy & Research, in the Impact Evaluation group. This role is responsible for assisting Impact Evaluation directors and managers with research tasks such as handling complex student data.
Become familiar with the Pearson Efficacy Agenda through reading of key efficacy documents and Pearson Research Reports
Assist Directors and Managers for Impact Evaluation with data merging and cleaning; completion of some data analysis, and the development of summaries of the analysis for projects we have underway.
Participate in the monthly discussion meetings to discuss issues related to study design and analysis.
Reading of academic journal articles and books covering topics related to the latest methodologies and research in the evaluation of education technology.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Experience with quantitative educational research
Experience with statistical programming such as STATA, SAS, R, or other similar statistical packages
Experience in merging of various data sources and data cleaning
Experience in creating summaries from analyzed data
Applied statistics experience, especially quantitative educational research experience and knowledge of educational research design
Oral and written communications skills
Knowledge of statistical design package such as STATA, SAS, or R preferred, but other statistical packages acceptable
Ability to work with teams virtually
