Pearson Canada’s Cross Media and Production Services team is currently recruiting for a Director of Media Production, based in our Don Mills Office.

The Director of Media Production is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling media production strategy and implementation of media products and services in support of Pearson Canada’s K-20 education markets. Working collaboratively with Editorial, Content Development, Project Management, Sales, and Global Technology Teams, overseeing key initiatives and external vendors, the Director of Media Production is accountable for leading the creation, production, testing, and updating of all media products.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead annual production of more than 150 eLearning products sold across K-20 markets in Canada

  • Provide strategic direction on effective technical design, technological opportunities, risks, strategies and production workflows

  • Lead and motivate team of Managers and Media Developers, while working in a collaborative team environment

  • Analyze and provide solutions based on stakeholder requirements for product development, design, and production

  • Keep current on technologies, learning management systems, and enterprise-wide platforms

  • Manage global vendor relationships and help administer contracts for outsourced work with suppliers across the United States, Canada, India, and Russia

  • Consult with Marketing, Sales, and Editorial Teams on ongoing market needs, issues, and trends regarding media; advise on effective protection and access strategies

  • Demonstrate leadership in the production of media products, services, and conversion of legacy content to meet customer needs

  • Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes

  • Provide training and mentoring to aid in the development of team members

Qualifications

  • College Degree or Diploma in information or web technologies or related field or equivalent Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Educational Technology preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated web/app development experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with educational technology

  • Expertise in coding and programming with HTML5, PHP, JavaScript, XML, AJAX, JQuery, JSON, CSS

  • Proven ability to find differentiators between product offerings and speak fluently about gaps and advantages

  • Proven understanding of responsive design and accessibility best practices

  • Proven understanding of Web Analytics and Data Analysis

  • Experience with interface design, UX, and/or instructional design preferred

  • Experience with front-end frameworks such as AngularJS, EmberJS, Flux/ReactJS

  • Must be forward-thinking, creative, flexible, with a desire to learn and grow oneself and others

  • Handles oneself ethically in accordance with Pearson’s values and policies

  • Understands team dynamics and the importance of fostering a positive team environment

  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, multi-tasking skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to interpret requirements, and to understand usability, workflow, and content management

  • Ability to consume technical information and translate that into technical specifications

  • Ability to learn new software programs and languages quickly

  • Must have highly effective analytical and problem solving skills

  • Proficient with relational databases
