Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Direct Sales (75%)
  • Meet or exceed monthly/quarterly & yearly quotas. Grow the market by expanding the customer use of our products and uncovering new opportunities in the assigned markets.

  • Introduce and direct sell new and/or upgraded products to assigned market.

  • Follow-up on leads generated by direct mail, tradeshows or other marketing and sales activities.

  • Review account sales history and future account needs.

  • Respond to inquiries on product pricing and general policy questions within the assigned market.

  • Network with the key market experts and authors.

  • Recommend additional products/services as necessary including selling training services where applicable.

  • Work with internal teams regarding customer onboarding/implementation of software/subscription based products.

  • Encourage and solicit customer/client referrals to help increase sales and maintain and hold market share.

  • Work with appropriate internal resources to insure follow through on customer solutions and inquiries.

  • Develop and maintain product knowledge on our current assessment solutions and services.

  • Demonstrate web-based assessment and intervention programs

  • Extensive travel including local as well as overnight will be required.

  • Travel to prospect or customer sites, trade shows, conferences for product presentations/demonstrations.

  1. Documentation/Communication (15%)
  • Document sales pipeline and sales forecast and participate in monthly pipeline review calls.

  • Prepare price quotes and proposals for product and service solutions that meet the customers' needs.

  • Ensure that through this sales proposal process the customers' expectations are consistent with Pearson's ability to perform in terms of product/service benefits, delivery timeframes and terms and conditions of payment.

  • Maintain and update the customer database to ensure the accuracy of account information and track all customer correspondence in SalesForce.

  • Communicate feedback from customers to improve our market knowledge and understanding to aid in overall marketing efforts.

  1. Other duties as assigned (5%)
  • Collaborate with teammates inside and outside of the department to drive sales and performance.


  • 8 years’ experience of sales success in selling professional development and/or enterprise wide solutions. Experience in medical sales required the Behavioral Health market is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s in business, marketing, and/or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Live in close proximity to assigned territory

  • 2 years’ experience using Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required, Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Hangout) preferred

  • 2 years’ experience using a CRM; SalesForce highly preferred

Additional skills/knowledge/abilities:

  • Must be sensitive and responsive to customers' needs.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Must be able to partner with organization to uncover assessment needs and suggest product/services solution that will meet their needs.

  • Must prospect and set up appointments and travel itineraries.

  • Must attend sales conferences and tradeshows.

  • Transportation of materials, booth set up and tear down require the ability to repeatedly lift up to 40 pounds, to bend and reach.

  • Representing the company at the tradeshow booth requires the ability to stand and converse with prospective customers for long periods of time (up to 8 hours a day) with only limited breaks.

  • Must be able to work with Proposal team to respond to RFP's, RFI's, PO’s, contracts and catalog bids.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Clean & valid driver's license required.

  • Ability to drive a car for extended periods of time, and travel by plane.

  • Transport, display and demonstrate Pearson materials onsite at customer's location.
