This role is responsiblefor supporting Sector Managers in an allocated sector / sectors to develop Pearson’s integrated offer and secure andgrow our market share. It is responsible for the product management of a prescribed area of an allocated sector /sectors.

Key Accountabilities:

● To support Sector Managers to research, plan, brief and launch new qualification products and services that meetthe needs of customers, learners and stakeholders, as well as the requirements of Government and the regulator.● To support Sector Managers to provide a best‐in‐class customer experience through the free surround, events andinformation we provide to our customers throughout the lifecycle, continually improving that experience in asector / sectors.

Main responsibilities:

1. Developing and maintaining segment, sector and market insight

● Develop an understanding of the market in an allocated sector / sectors including but not limited to the impact ofgovernment policy and funding on the sector, labour market data and reports, key customer and stakeholderdrivers and pain points. This will involve drawing on desk‐ and field‐based research, including attendance atconferences and events.

● With support from a Sector Manager carry out quantitative and qualitative research into qualification products andservices including planning and managing the reviewing of sample material.

● Develop and maintain an understanding of competitors in an allocated sector / sectors, tracking their activity andcommunicating their strengths and weaknesses.

2. Developing propositions, managing budgets, and forecasting

● Develop an understanding of the BTEC and Apprenticeships qualifications strategy and the role of an allocatedsector / sectors within that.

● With support from a Sector Manager develop and refine propositions for qualification products and services,ensuring they have clear USPs.

● Support a Sector Manager in developing proposals for Product Councils. This will involve gathering the relevantdata, preparing costs and forecasts, and working with marketing on communications. It will also involve taking fullresponsibility for basic qualification redevelopments, extensions and withdrawals, and support proposals

3. Supporting customers through the lifecycle and improving customer experience

● Develop an understanding of the BTEC and Apprenticeships qualifications customer experience and develop goodrelationships throughout Pearson with colleagues that deliver this customer experience.

● Review customer experience at regular points through the lifecycle (from customer satisfaction tracking to regular,in‐depth qualitative insight).

● With support from a Sector Manager identify strategies and process improvements that can significantly improvecustomer experience.

● With support from a Sector Manager liaise with colleagues across Pearson UK to ensure recurring sector‐specificissues are dealt with and improvements are made in a timely fashion.

4. Briefing, developing and launching new products and services

● Develop an understanding of the strategic and educational rationale for any project allocated including but notlimited to the purpose and desired learner outcomes in relation to other qualifications in the sector portfolio.

● Gather evidence for product and service briefs (e.g. design proposals for qualifications and end‐point assessments)including but not limited to customer and learner needs, end‐user requirements (e.g. the requirements ofemployers and higher education), labour market data.

● Gather customer, learner and end‐user feedback for products and services in development, and with the supportof a Sector Manager make recommendations for amendments as a result of this feedback.

● Communicate any changes in scale or scope of allocated projects to colleagues across Pearson in a timely fashionso they can put good action plans in place to manage such changes. This will involve working closely with sales andmarketing colleagues, and professional development and teaching and learning colleagues in particular.

5. Leadership and people management

● Work effectively with other colleagues across Pearson UK to ensure there is a collaborative and positive workingculture in support of Pearson UK and BTEC and Apprenticeships divisional strategies.

● Champion a ‘customer first’ culture across Pearson, ensuring that all decisions are made with reference to theneeds of our customers and learners

Essential skills, qualifications and experience:

● Qualified to degree level, equivalent qualifications or extensive experience in the sector

● Experience and understanding of qualifications and the UK education market and environment (e.g. colleges,private training providers, employers, professional bodies)

● Experience and understanding of a sector / sectors
