Position Summary

PearsonUK has a large product portfolio including qualifications .and resources. Thebusiness requires a central point person to support pricing of qualificationsand digital platforms for the business. This role will involve working closelywith business leaders to ensure Pearson maximises its revenues whilst takingaccount of other factors such as risks and competitor pricing. The positionwill also involve ensuring that the process of updating prices from acommercial respects is fully aligned with operational delivery and so workclosely with colleagues to make sure customers are invoiced correctly.

TheBI team supports reporting and data analytics for Pearson’s UK business. Theteam plays a key role in delivering a wide range of analytical supportincluding operational data commercial analysis and reporting and learner dataanalytics. All the BI team engage in data extraction and the servicing of dayto day data needs across the business. In addition the team supports and buildsdashboards off our own data cube to deliver high quality and robust analysis.The range of analytics is considerable including commercial and market data,operational data and learner data. Hence the role provides an unrivalledopportunity to develop a broad based experience.

PearsonUK has not historically been a data driven company and this team has helpedshift the business to a new standard of analysis and reporting. This means thatall members of the team have to be proactive and motivated to unpack complexproblems or requirements to deliver outstanding analysis.

Inaddition Pearson is rolling out a new CRM (salesforce) and Oracle reportingtools to underpin global reporting. The UK specific data requirements need toreconcile and be aligned to these developments and initiatives.

KeyRole-Specific Deliverables:

  • Bethe expert “ go to” person on pricing questions relating to qualifications and digitalplatforms

  • Masterthe current product portfolio and consider opportunities to improve pricing

  • Workclosely with relevant stakeholders, especially product management, to developpricing strategy for current or future product portfolios

  • Analyticalthought leader who can help shape new pricing idea

  • Mastera complex brief of inter related data requirements and quickly gain a deepunderstanding of the business

  • Workclosely with operations and the BI team to make sure pricing information isreported correctly and process are aligned with pricing strategy

  • Understandthe regulatory environment and assess risk where relevant to pricing strategy

  • Workclosely with colleagues to support thinking on new business models or bundling

  • Ensurereporting on pricing is accurate and relevant

  • Monitotrends on prices and revenues

  • Buildcompetitor intelligence on pricing for the UK market and our internationalqualifications business

  • Workclosely with the BI team to support analytical thinking and reporting whererelevant

  • Provideanalytical support for commercial strategy to elevate data analytics in the BIteam to be more attuned to business requirements

  • Undertakean annual price review with recommendations for inflation linked priceincreases
