Main activities / responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Director of Social Impact Programs and Partnerships design and implement a coherent set of programs and interventions that build impact over time and adhere to a strategy that promotes best practice and scales innovative and effective programs.

  • Identify, create a pipeline and recruit partners globally that can help Pearson deliver its social impact aims.

  • Manage proposal development and grant agreement process

  • Conduct partner site visits as appropriate

  • Be the day-to-day contact for partners and programs maintaining regular status meetings and contact

  • Develop high-touch, high-impact events strategy and provide support with event planning and execution for high-profile social impact activities

  • Working with the Campaign Planning team manage project timelines across social impact programs and partnerships and ensure regular communication of key milestones and activities with the Social Impact team

  • Proactively and in response to requests from Social Impact Community Managers or Employee Participation Managers gather stories directly from partners or program participants that illustrate momentum and achievement towards our goals

  • Work with Social Impact Community Manager to ensure content related to our social impact initiatives and partnerships are featured and disseminated through relevant channels on a regular basis

  • Execute evaluation framework across social impact programs and work with the Sustainability and Standards team to monitor and report on specific impact metrics

  • Own interim and final reporting on a program basis (micro) and campaign basis (macro) collecting necessary data from partners

  • Identify and develop opportunities within the company to leverage internal knowledge, expertise and networks to support execution of social impact activities and programs

  • Monitor external developments to seize opportunities to share and enhance Pearson’s social impact programming activity, ensuring it keeps pace with, or exceeds industry, best practice


Qualifications, experience and personal specification

  • Proven experience: 7 years of experience preferably in the non-profit, policy space, with a Foundation, or within a CSR department of a corporation. Proven track record of developing and managing partnerships, especially as they relate to global development and community investment. Exceptional experience creating and maintaining networks.

  • Strategic development: Ability to identify risks and opportunities, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, develop mitigation strategies and communicate them with confidence. Knowledge of trends in international development and global education

  • Project Execution: Ability to plan, manage, and successfully complete multiple complex projects simultaneously in budget, and ideally within matrix environment.

  • Global Management: Experience working with diverse, global teams of highly talented individuals that operate as a single team. Ability to coordinate efforts cross-functionally to achieve positive end results.

  • Communication and Stakeholder Management: A track record of building and sustaining excellent internal and external relationships (at all levels) who is collaborative and with an ability to build networks. Powerful interpersonal skills with an ability to influence. Ability to appreciate the diversity of stakeholder interactions and adapt style and approach accordingly.

  • Judgment: Ability to demonstrate sound thinking when recommending approaches and assessing business risks. Makes decisions that balance a variety of factors to achieve an optimal outcome. Flexible, adaptable attitude when dealing with constant change

  • Creativity: Ability to apply creative thinking and imagination to projects, as well as an unrelenting focus on the target audience.

  • Developing & Leveraging Relationships: Credibility to lead functional specialists and partner with/advise business leaders in addition to having a robust network of relevant external relationships.
