Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to lead the development and execution of a marketing andrecruitment strategy that builds our brand profile and reputationand delivers growth in student number and revenue. The post holder is alsoresponsible for ensuring wefulfil all the requirements of the QAA on public information.

Thisposition reports directly to the Principal and is responsible a department of25.

Workingin a varied and sometimes pressurised environment, the Director of ExternalRelations and Public Information will build effective and collaborativerelationships with stakeholders at all levels, using their well-honedinfluencing skills, expertise and creativity to keep us delivering against thecurrent strategic plans of the College. They will develop a marketing andrecruitment plan that maintains awareness of our brand and our productoffering, supports income generation and reinforces our brand across alltouchpoints and with a wide range of stakeholders.

Asan energetic and delivery focused marketing leader, the post holder willprovide leadership and direction to the External Relations team and buildstrong relationships across the business to produce high quality content acrossa range of campaigns. They will provide strategic thinking with highlydeveloped analytical skills and critical problem solving abilities.

Thepost holder will have a proven track record in delivering integrated multi-channel campaigns. They will have extensive knowledge and experience across allmarketing disciplines- from brand and marketing strategy and communicationsplanning to the creation of visual and written content across owned, earned andbought media. They will thrive on collaborating with others to support theCollege’s goals.

Experienceand a detailed understanding of UK Higher Education recruitment cycles isessential as is experience of marketing in the UK undergraduate and postgraduatedegrees, short courses and Degree Apprenticeships (B2B and B2C) in thedisciplines of Business, Law, Accounting, Visual Effects, Animation and Games. Experience of preparing materials required forQAA monitoring and DAP applications is also required, as this is a key part ofthe role. Knowledge and experience ofinternational and online recruitment would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the senior leadership team to develop and deliver the College’s strategy ensuring the External Relations team is aligned in its priorities.

  • Effectively manage the departmental budget ensuring transparency, compliance and demonstrable value for money

  • Lead the team in the development and delivery of campaigns to deliver student recruitment targets for UCAS main scheme, Degree Apprenticeships and Short Courses.

  • Develop and embed performance dashboards that monitor performance against objectives.

  • Work with the Principal to provide leadership in the development and delivery of the brand proposition(s) and architecture, managing the overarching corporate Pearson College London brand as well as its sub-brands and relationship with Pearson PLC.

  • Be accountable for public information, including inter alia: development and successful operation of the College website; development and delivery of PR plans to raise the profile of Pearson College London; and leading the Events team to deliver consistently high quality, effective public events.

  • Influence course portfolio development, identifying courses to be offered, to a range of market segments and both B2C and B2B.

  • Liaise with a range of colleagues across Pearson College London and the wider Pearson PLC to support the achievement of business objectives.

  • Participate in Boards and Committees as agreed with the Principal;

Maintainup to date knowledge on the Higher Education sector in the UK and elsewhere andidentifying trends and opportunities in the provision of tertiary education andproviding relevant advice;

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Up to date experience of working within marketing and recruitment within UK HE – ideally at an Alternative Provider. They should be a current senior post-holder within the marketing department of a UK higher education institution;

  • Full understanding and experience of the UCAS recruitment cycle and Degree Apprenticeship recruitment cycle (B2B and B2C).

  • Experience of marketing short courses within the Creative Industries.

  • Experience of working within both recruiting and selecting higher education institutions.

  • Experience of launching new programmes.

  • Experience of managing a team;

  • An awareness of both the challenges and opportunities likely to face UK HE and the private sector in particular;

  • Experience of managing budgets and reporting data underpinning campaigns

  • Experience of preparing materials required for QAA monitoring
