BackgroundInformation:

A Content ProductionManager is responsible for the management of our end-to-end production processto deliver assessment related content for Pearson Qualifications.

This role is aimed atindividuals that have entry level work experience in the publishing and/oreducational sectors looking for progression and/or the next step in theirprofessional career.

Purpose:

To be responsible forthe management and production of a specified set of secure assessment relatedcontent. This content can include: question papers, mark schemes, pre-releasematerials, onscreen tests, OSCA, sample assessment materials and exemplarmaterials.

The ContentProduction Manager is responsible for ensuring that error-free assessmentcontent is produced which is delivered to deadline, meets defined qualitycriteria which is compliant with the OfQual Code of Practice and equivalentstandards.

Key Accountabilities:

Content Production: to manage and facilitate the completion of alltasks related to the production of assessment content. This involves theend-to-end process responsibilities from commissioning and contractingAssessment Associates through to ensuring the assessment content can bedistributed to centres.

Quality Management : to understand, and to operate within the agreedassessment content production Quality Plan, ensuring that procedures arefollowed by everyone involved in the production process.

To be responsible forensuring full records of decisions are captured and maintained throughout theproduction process of all assessment related content.

Facilitate andsupport successful Question Paper Evaluation Committee (QPEC) or Reviewmeetings.

Project Management: to regularly review the status of contentproduction responsibilities and regularly update your line manager andstakeholders on progress.

To implement bothnecessary and innovative measures to ensure all materials meet the agreed timeand quality criteria.

To escalate issuesand risks promptly to your line manager to ensure solutions are found and thatmaterials are completed to deadline.

To utilise allproject reporting tools to ensure up-to-date and accurate managementinformation is tracked and available to all relevant stakeholders

To prepare, plan andmaintain realistic schedules of work and obtain stakeholder agreement frominception whilst remaining adaptive to any developments

Manage multipleworkstreams for delivery to deadline

RelationshipManagement: to build and maintain successfulrelationships with all our external and internal stakeholders to facilitate asuccessful production process.

To ensure that allrelationships are managed with excellent customer service whilst adhering tothe Pearson code of conduct

To be the AssessmentAssociates’ (AA) primary contact for content production, ensuring that they areaware of their role and responsibilities within the production process.

To equip our AAs withall necessary content production tools, information and resources, to ensureagreed outcomes and deadlines are achieved whilst maintaining quality

Document Management: to manage all documentation relating to theproduction process ensuring version control is maintained at all times.

To ensure all contentis handled in adherence to Pearson security protocols and both electronicand paper filing systems are maintained and appropriately structured.

To ensure allguidance and support materials remain relevant and up-to-date in line with continuousimprovement within the department.

ProductionDevelopment: to continuously review and update themethods and processes used to produce the assessment materials. To ensure thatthey are fit-for–purpose and that technological advances such as computer basedtesting and item banking can be facilitated and maximised. To proactivelymanage change within the production process ensuring that the changes areembedded into the process as quickly and as effectively as possible.

User AcceptanceTesting:

To prepare onscreenassessment materials for user acceptance testing (UAT) in their own areas ofresponsibility, ensuring they are fit for purpose and actioning user feedbackwhere appropriate

To undertake UATs forother onscreen tests and provide feedback

  • Working to tight, andimmoveable, deadlines

  • Managing securematerials during a period of change eg Qualification development/re-developmentprogrammes or specification changes.

  • Influencing andworking closely with Assessment Associates and colleagues in Assessment.

  • Simultaneouslymanaging multiple assessments at different stages of the production process.

  • Working with multiplestakeholders both across the business and externally.

  • Preparedto be open to the need for the role to evolve to meet new deadlines andobjectives as the business’ goals and targets change.

To support thecontinued development and performance appraisal of Content Production Managers,Pearson provides a structured personal and professional competency frameworkdirectly linked to this role.

The ContentProduction Managers’ Levels of Performance Objectives programme has five levels(1-5). Content Production Managers periodically review their progress withtheir line manager, and once the required competencies are achieved and agreed,the Content Production Manager has completed a level and is awarded a payincrement in recognition of their successful completion.

As Content ProductionManagers progress through the five levels, the demands of the competencyframework increase to allow them to demonstrate that they are building on theirexperience and contributing more to the Pearson business.

Once the ContentProduction Manager has successfully completed Level 5, they are usuallypromoted to Senior Content Production Manager.
