Account Executive


Pearson is seeking an experienced Account Executive (AE) to be responsible for key account management activities in an on-site, client-facing role with a national nonprofit client. The AE coordinates key business areas within Pearson and with the client -- including marketing, publishing, print, and digital content creation and distribution.

The AE is both proactive in developing plans, as well as operationally sound to ensure they are brought to fruition with a high-degree of customer service. The AE is expected to create and streamline operational processes for on-time delivery within budget in accordance with organizational key performance indicators (KPIs). The AE is a high-energy, hard-working, experienced account leader who is used to rolling up his or her sleeves to get things done and who is a team player within a 20 person team of Pearson creative and editorial specialists.


Manage and strengthen client relationships with internal client teams. Responsible for overall client service of assigned accounts, effectively executing strategies, problem-solving and developing solid business relationships with a high level of satisfaction at all levels of the client organization

Make Pearson creative services consistent and cohesive with a reliably high standard of service

Work with client groups and internal Pearson stakeholders to help establish role clarity, process maps, improvement areas, goal alignment, and KPIs.

Conduct regular status and strategy meetings with the Pearson team and your client user groups in order to understand their objectives and link them to the organization's delivery of creative and editorial services

Perform workflow design to meet the demands for the organization's products and services by developing and implementing standard processes, procedures and escalation paths

Conduct post-event analysis to evaluate results and leverage findings for future improvements to the way we work

Develop an annual marketing plan with each client identifying key areas for improvement; strategizing individual campaigns or events as needed with SMART goals

Communicate opportunities, develop solutions, monitor work progress, ensuring timely deliverables and serving as the client advocate



Formal education or equivalent experience

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience, preferably in account management or client service with advertising, marketing, communications, and/or business administration experience

- Minimum of three to five years of account management experience

- Experience in advertising or marketing agency preferred


- Excellent customer-relationship management skills with demonstrated account management or client service experience, especially collaborating with client teams in a matrixed environment

- Strong communications and presentation skills, with the ability to persuade and influence

- Advanced consulting and problem-resolution skills with a data-driven approach to support and defend positions

- Ability to develop and maintain account strategies balancing long-term strategic planning with short-term execution

- A forward-thinker, up to date on the latest industry standards and technologies

- Ability to translate marketing or business briefs into agency creative briefs that stimulate creativity in the context of commercial implications. Fosters an environment that encourages appropriate creative risks and innovation

- Creativity, initiative, energy, enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure in an environment of changing priorities to meet milestones and demanding deadlines

- Proficiency with technology and technology applications, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and Adobe - Acrobat Professional

- In-depth understanding of print and digital production processes and workflows and their opportunities
