Under the direction of the Director of Product Management, the Manager, Marketing is responsible for the strategic vision and successful development and implementation of national and/or state-specific marketing plans for a key segment of the high school mathematics portfolio. Working with cross-functional teams including US Learning Services and Higher Education, this position will maximize opportunities to ensure revenue growth by gaining new business, as well as expanding within existing markets.
The Manager, Marketing is responsible for national marketing efforts for this product line including tracking competition and market trends, and utilizing this information when creating product messaging that portrays his/her programs in the most competitively advantaged manner. This position works closely with cross-functional product management teams and stakeholders to suggest and coordinate key product requirements and ensure that the product meets market specifications. In this role, the Manager, Marketing will ensure that product features and competitive differentiators are adequately described to both customers and the sales team. The Manager, Marketing will also develop online and print-based marketing promotions and marketing campaigns.
SCOPE AND IMPACT OF JOB
The Manager, Marketing will be responsible for working within assigned project budgets. They will also have or share product line revenue responsibility.
Successfully implement overall messaging and vision through a variety of sales enablement tools including integrated print and digital promotional resources, sales presentations, state and local campaign, demand generation resources, and events
Coordinate with Campaign Marketing to develop national and local demand generation strategies and campaigns
Become a segment expert and be the voice of the customer during internal meetings
Serve as the primary marketing contact for the field for product portfolio questions, major campaigns, market intelligence, and respond to changing issues in the market
Work with cross-functional teams to plan and execute sales training
Work with Bids and Contracts and sales to prepare submission documents, questionnaires, and other adoption related narratives
Interact in the field with customers, account managers, specialists, and others to understand the market as it relates to customer needs and effectiveness of messaging and marketing resources
Coordinate product requirements with stakeholders to ensure product meets market specifications
Create product packages and set yearly pricing to ensure product is competitively priced within the market
40%Coordinate with Product Management, Marketing Managers, Integrated Marketing Services team, and the Field to develop effective marketing and product launch plans.
20%Develop effective sales support materials, including product presentations and adequately train the Field on respective product lines.
20%Work with Product Management to request ISBNs, set prices, and conduct competitive analyses to provide the sales force the tools needed for competitively selling.
10%Participate in tradeshow and events planning to optimize product messaging at such events.
10%Develop and execute product sampling strategy in support of assigned product lines.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
4-6 years work experience as a Marketing Manager required.
Experience in educational publishing preferred.
BA/BS in related field required, Master’s of Business Administration, preferred
Strong track record of working on cross-functional teams required.
Must be able to balance day–to-day tactical with long-term strategic projects
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, and collaborative environment
Demonstrated ability as a self-starter and fast learner to effectively manage projects required
Strong verbal and written communication skills required; must be able to differentiate and convey information in clear, concise manner to customers, sales force, and internal teams
Strong interpersonal and presentations skills required: must be able to present successfully to customers, sales force, and interact with product development teams, authors, and product management teams
Good time management skills and organizational skills required.
Experience in online marketing techniques required, including email and product demos (such as Brainshark or Camtasia) required.
