This role is responsible for supporting a large 40,000 user, 70 Domain, multi forest Active Directory Environment, 100,000 object Active directory, spread across 220 AD Domain controllers globally.

The applicant for this role is an organizational thought leader and would be considered a subject matter expert in all aspects of Active Directory

This role is 10% support; 20% deep level 3rd line support; 70% design

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot & resolve complex AD issues

  • Manage 220 AD domain controllers, across 70 AD domains

  • Detailed knowledge of AD Schema and updates

  • Detailed knowledge of AD Security model

  • Design, plan and manage large Active Directory migrations due to acquisition/divestiture

  • AD Domain controller build & management to defined standards

  • Manage AD integrated DNS

  • Manage and plan Group Policy structure and change

  • Manage AD replication and integrity

  • Design AD OU structure to reflect business requirements

  • Work with application teams to manage AD integration for new applications

  • Take appropriate steps to resolve Service Issues as and when they occur.

  • Raise and execute Change Records in accordance with departmental change policy

  • Participation in the On-Call Global support or work on shift basis to support all regions.

  • Engage with vendors to report outages and incidents.

  • Faulty Hardware replacement and software installation and configuration

  • Proactively monitor and assess the environment to ensure optimal availability and performance

  • Identify areas in the environment which can be enhanced to deliver an improved user experience; automation, simplification…

  • Liaison with 3rd party vendors to extract requirements and provide solutions for the system

  • Liason with other Pearson teams to extract requirements and provide solutions for the system

  • Work with Microsoft and other expert partners to support and develop the Active Directory environment.

  • Lead cross-functional design engagements

  • Manage prioritization of initiatives across the service category

  • Serve as a mentor for senior engineers

  • Provide supervision to contingent workers

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • 8 years experience with Active Directory Design

  • 8 years experience of working with Windows Server

  • Detailed knowledge of Active Directory, 2008R2 and 2012R2

  • Proven track record of large Enterprise AD design

  • Detailed knowledge of AD Schema and updates

  • Detailed knowledge of AD Security model

  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft AD integrated DNS

  • Detailed understanding of LDAP design/support

  • Understanding of AD certificate services

  • Understanding of AD integrated DNS

  • Full understanding of AD Sites & services Design

  • Ability to work under pressure both within a team environment and as an individual.

  • Experience working in an operational/support environment that follows ITIL methodology.

  • Experience in working in a (40,000 user, 30,000 server) Global Enterprise.

  • Experience integrating cloud based environments

  • Detailed knowledge of the directory services landscape and technological trends

  • 8 years experience of requirements analysis and solution design in directory services

  • Proficiency in Powershell scripting
