* Context*

Reportingto the Digital Production Manager, Learning Services and working as part of theLearning Services, Operations and Delivery team, this role will help scope,produce and deliver digital products and services (ranging from low to highcomplexity in nature) to customers in the UK and Ireland, Europe, MEAC and South Africa regions. You will project manage adapted and tailored,digitally smart, user friendly solutions that improve learning outcomes andmeet customer expectations. The successful candidate will work closely with UKand regional sales teams and deliver digital solutions using Pearson and thirdparty platforms and authoring tools.


Tobe responsible for managing the production and delivery of a number of bespokedigital products, with competing priorities, in order to produce high qualityproducts on time and to budget. You will work closely with the internalOperations team, stakeholders and third parties on projects assigned to ensureproducts are delivered to the highest standard within time and budgetconstraints. You will work to tight timeframes, managing a high volume ofprojects of varying complexity in Pearson platforms or in a combination ofPearson and third party campus-based systems.

* Key Accountabilities:*

Help support and advisethe sales, operations and customer experience group on the options available inthe creation and delivery of digital products, ensuring that solutions meetcustomer requirements and are feasible in the timeframe and budget.

  • Interpret projecthandovers to the Operations team, advising if the solution is possible andadvising on content/access code protection.

  • Become an expert inPearson platforms, their related assets and their limitationin order to adviseaccordingly.

  • Responsible for theproduction and management of your own projects including QA and riskmitigation.

  • Given the need toaccelerate time to market, manage each assigned project whilst continuouslyassessing and prioritising your list of projects in order to maintain highstandards that result in the delivery of an accurate and professional finalproduct, on time and to budget.

  • Report regularly onproduction status of projects assigned to line manager and other keystakeholders.

  • Resolve allproject-specific issues as they arise, ensuring that key stakeholders are awareof any delays or milestones which may affect their projects.

  • Monitor work carried outby third parties, stakeholders and internal teams on projects assigned toensure that any related access code protection or product reconfiguration iscompleted within the timeframe.

  • Take responsibility forensuring that budgets are met and advise line manager and dependant teams ifcosts are likely to exceed budget for projects worked.

  • Ensure best practice andprocess is followed and maintained, such as QA testing practices and usercentred design in the creation of digital solutions.

  • Be proactive inidentifying where updates to existing or new processes and workflows arerequired.

  • Discuss with line managerand assist with updates to process and workflow documentation if required.

  • Keep abreast of andmonitor Pearson’s products, platforms and technology developments,understanding any implications for local markets.

  • Track, monitor and feedbackon work carried out by external vendors and other teams within Pearson toensure that efficient production activities are carried out.

  • Feedback regularly oncapabilities and issues to manager.

  • Responsibility forbriefing vendors on projects assigned. In conjunction with line manager, decide when and when you would notoutsource to a vendor based on the project requirements.

  • Minimum of 2 years job experience

  • Project management experience, particularly managing production and delivery of digital content

  • Experience of managing multiple digital projects to tight timeframes


  • Experience of working within educational publishing and/or with educational software

  • Understanding of the Web, HTML, CSS, Javascript

  • Experience of managing project budgets

    Experience in managing vendors: negotiating, executing contracts, creating briefs and purchase orders

* IT Literacy*

_ Essential:_

  • Intermediate or advanced Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience in working with LMS environments in terms of administration and content creation (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard, Sakai)

_ Desirable:_

  • Knowledge of Pearson platforms and systems

  • XML knowledge

  • Experience of working cross collaboratively with other departments via document sharing software

  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Web based programmes (e.g. Adobe Dreamweaver editor), Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop)
