Summary:

The Services Proposal Development Specialist is responsible for working with the Sales Operations Proposals team in Iowa City, the Practice Area team, and the Solutions Alignment Managers to write and/or edit concise and persuasive business proposals for the Services sections of formal and informal proposals. The Specialist will analyze the services section of the RFPs for customer requirements, review and edit services templated language provided by the Iowa City team, develop and format proposal response text specific to the services section of the proposal, and participate in proposal development teams. This position will coordinate all aspects for the assigned Services components within each proposal ensuring that written proposals not only adhere to the requirements set forth by customers but represent a compelling and competitive response to their needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares the responses to formal and informal solicitations by writing customized and boilerplate services text.

  • Collaborate with Practice Leads and/or Solutions Alignment Managers to create solution text.

  • Edit text for voice, messaging, and adherence to internal style guide.

  • Maintains quality control. Maintains version control at each stage of proposal draft iteration.

  • Adhere to strict deadlines.

  • Help maintain services proposal text database (to be “built”).

  • Report project status to management.

  • Assist other writers and provide peer review as needed.

  • Partnering and collaboration across the organization on a regular basis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (English, Technical Communication, or Communications-related degrees preferred) or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum five years of experience in proposal writing, marketing writing, business writing, or technical writing.

  • Minimum two years of experience with education sales, services implementations and/or RFPs. Legal and/or Marketing work helpful.

  • Knowledge and experience with instructional technology, preferred.

  • Knowledge of the school market preferred.

Additional skills/knowledge/abilities:

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, technical writing and verbal communication skills are essential for successful performance in this position.

  • Strong ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with others.

  • Ability to write and edit proposals with little supervision.

  • Must be able to work as needed to meet tight deadlines and at peak periods.

  • Experience working with and interviewing services staff to develop persuasive text.

  • Acute attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to set own priorities and escalate issues in a timely manner.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities.

  • Knowledge of professional development and the services associated with Learning Services K12 Product lines a plus.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong skills in MS Word required.
