Pearson’s Growth markets contain 55% of the world’s population and 60% of the world’s youth population. The middle class in these countries is rapidly expanding and education is a critical part of this transition.

The Middle East Hub includes Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Irak, Iran, Yemen, and Turkey

The role reports into the Managing Director of the Middle East Hub.

Key Accountabilities:

The Marketing and Portfolio Director will be a key contributor to the growth of the Pearson business within the specified region, playing a critical role in defining and delivering the growth targets with the Head of the Middle East, regional sales teams, and Service Delivery. This role is not only strategic but also has an operational component through the design and execution of tactical marketing activities enabling achievement of annual sales targets.

This role will have responsibility for:

Portfolio Management

  • Develop portfolio strategy across ELT, Higher Ed, K12, PQI, and assessment products, in coordination with the global lines of business and the commercial heads

  • Define, with the commercial leads, go-to-market strategy per segment covering pricing, enablement and support, communication, distribution (physical and digital)

  • Produce 3-year sales projections per segment in cooperation with the country sales teams

  • Drive product mix evolution to ensure highest levels of profitability

  • Produce management reports per category to enable decision-making

Market Analysis/Research

  • Track and update Pearson’s competitive positioning across all products segments (ELT, K12, Higher Ed, assessment, qualifications) and across all 13 markets

  • Liaise with the sales teams to get updated client data and information (One CRM), generate customer insights

  • Liaise with global line of business to get benchmarks and best practices from other markets

  • Social Media and Web site management

Marketing Communications

  • Brand

  • Thought leadership and PR

  • Events

  • Product marketing --- both physical and digital

Sales Support

  • Manage pool of product experts, permanent or freelancers, (ELT, K12, Higher Ed) to provide specialist support to thesales teams

  • Tap into the global pool of experts in LoB to support specific marketing and sales effort.

  • Design and implement in-depth product training to the sales teams

Key Interfaces:

  • Regional and country commercial heads (4): Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Gulf and Levant Higher Ed, Guld and Levant Schools

  • Service Delivery (1): This unit is primarily responsible for the delivery of the Pearson services and solutions requiring post-sales engagement. It includes customer support, project management and delivery, solutions design and architecture, technology, product development and publishing

  • Enabling functions (3): operations, finance, HR
