This position offers the opportunity to engage one's entrepreneurial nature andwork in partnership with a local community college to improve student coachingservices and student persistence. The candidate will operate on-campus ina shared ownership structure. He or shewill manage a team of unionized student coaches and be expected to supportCampus process improvements that improve student experience. The candidate will be supported by bothon-campus and remote Pearson teams.

Position Summary

The Director of Student Coaching and Persistence has responsibility forensuring high quality student coaching, improved student retention and strongstudent satisfaction ratings. TheDirector represents Pearson on a Community College campus and serves as thecompany’s primary student coaching and retention expert for a designatedCollege. The Director will ensure student retention metrics across allsupported programs are achieved.

Responsibilities

Specific duties andresponsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Actas Pearson’s on-campus Retention subject matter expert, participating whenneeded in Academic Partner meetings

  • Developand/or implement strategies and initiatives to collect data, evaluate retentionefforts, analyze retention data, and improve graduation and retention rates

  • Createstrategies for identifying students at-risk to leave the institution andcounsel students on a referral and walk-in basis

  • Workcollaboratively and disseminate analytical research to identify and informrecruitment, admissions, financial aid, student services, student life, andother constituents

  • Monitorand analyze functional results; provide strategic recommendations forperformance improvements

  • Analyzereports related to the day-to-day operations and overall productivity of theteam to forecast and drive performance

  • Provideleadership to function including employee motivation initiatives and effectiveresource allocation

  • Conductperformance reviews to ensure team is consistent with key performanceobjectives

  • Provideweekly updates concerning retention pacing to objectives.

  • Collaboratewith functional leaders to implement cross-functional improvement/strategicinitiatives

  • Overseenew employee hiring, orientation, and training

  • Ensurestaff updates the Starfish Retention Management system with accurate, timely enrollment information and relevantstudent feedback

  • Ensurestaff provides the highest quality student coaching

  • Ensureall programs have up to date and accurate Standard Operating Procedures

  • Strategizeto improve department efficiencies, results, and satisfaction ratings

  • Responsiblefor continuous learning in the area of student acquisition and retention

  • Maintaindepartment’s budget for assigned location(s)

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degreerequired, Master’s Degree preferred

  • 8 to 10 years incustomer service and 5 years in team supervision.

  • Firmgrasp on student development theory

  • Experiencein Student programming; commitment to student learning

  • Abilityto manage the culture, politics and power relationships that provideinstitutional context and positively build collaborative relationships withinand beyond the campus community

  • Able to makedecisions with a proven track record of decision making

  • Excellentleadership, negotiation, communication (written and oral), presentation,planning and organizational skills

  • Exceptionalorganizational and time management skills

  • Ability to transferknowledge and skills to the team through constant training and support

  • Demonstratedability to take the lead and work against resistance to accomplish goals

  • Highly proficientwith office automation tools (MS Office) as well as internet and variousdatabases both internal and external.

  • Demonstrable experience in enrollment management and enrollment trend analysis.

  • Experience workingin a Unionized environment is preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position hassupervisory responsibilities over a management and Student Retention(unionized) team.
