Main purpose

To pro-actively and innovatively drive the research, commissioning and development of multi-format and multi-purpose Post-School Higher Education content within a specific subject field or fields

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the overall Higher Education content development plan

  • Network with key internal and external stakeholders

  • Prepare and present product concept plans, in line with overall product instructional design, methodology and digital learning conceptualization and align with research and efficacy frameworks

  • Manage the development of learning products according to budget and deadline

  • Manage supplier and author relationships and networks, commission as required and negotiate and manage contracts

  • Develop new custom solutions for multi-format output for import and local material for Post-Schools market

  • Stay up-to-date with market trends and developments with key stakeholders in education

  • Network with education ministries at national and provincial levels to ensure a thorough knowledge of key developments

  • Use market knowledge and creative thinking to input into the plan for multi-format and multi-purpose content

  • Keep up-to-date regarding digital learning and teaching developments, standards and methodologies

  • Keep up-to-date regarding multi-purpose and –format content creation strategies.

  • Maintain backlist products and plan for necessary reprints, revisions and updates to ensure continued relevance in the market

  • Liaise with internal and UK content development teams to ensure custom product is made available on time and according to specifications

  • Oversee the project management and quality of content development beyond manuscript, through the full editorial process, including editing, typesetting and proof-reading, until the content is ready to be published; full lifecycle management of product workflow

Collaborate with the Post Schools eLearning team to:

  • Identify, understand and prioritise content development requirements based on customer needs across multiple platforms

  • Develop and deliver appropriate content to approved budget for identified products and services that meet the agreed content output plan

  • facilitate the development and technical specifications of learning products and services that meet content needs for deployment to customers

  • Collaborate with the Media Hub to:

  • Understand provide input into product concepts and visual design requirements for content development

  • Develop creative content across multiple platforms for new and adapted design concepts and projects

  • Develop and give input to prototyping and user-testing of products

  • Collaborate with the Efficacy and research team to:

  • Input into the overall research plan for the business

  • Plan appropriate research for specific products

  • Work towards achieving measurable proof of efficacy of all Post-School products and services and foster a culture of evidence-based decision making through embedding efficacy and research in broad strategy and planning, and in how content and products are conceptualised, developed, marketed, sold and delivered

  • Collaborate with the Post Schools Marketing team to:

  • Conduct needs analysis on priority markets, customers and customer segments ensuring a robust understanding of competitor propositions

  • Conduct ongoing market analysis and research to understand competitive landscape, trends and opportunities

  • Market and launch products and services

  • Develop appropriate training material and any other marketing collateral for media and/or print.

  • Ensure that our markets receive relevant and appropriate information regarding our products and services

  • Ensure successful implementation and on-going support of learning products and services

  • Collaborate with the Post Schools Sales team to:

  • Understand the competitive landscape and customer needs

  • Understand how our products and services are being used in the market

  • Plan products and services for high value customers and opportunities.

  • Understanding of the educational content development process particularly as it relates to Post-School.

  • Demonstrated capability around technology and instructional learning as an enabler to innovative content development.

  • Stays networked internally and externally, keeping abreast of the marketplace, including trends and best practices and shares this information with the team and business.

  • Able to programme manage and see through multiple complex projects.

  • Able to manage processes that allow for an efficient and effective way of working.

  • Deep understanding of research and efficacy and how to embed it into all content development.

Experience

  • Currently or previously a Publisher or Senior Publisher in Higher Education or Vocational, managing multiple complex projects

  • Can demonstrate a successful track record

  • Deep experience in education and understanding of the market

  • Can demonstrate project management and leadership skills

Other

  • Able to travel regularly

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree is essential (such as BA, BSocSci, BSc, BCom, B Tech)

  • Honours degree is preferable, but not essential
