We have an excellent opportunity on our automated scoring team for a versatile, experienced Software Engineer who thrives in a collaborative, problem solving and solution delivery environment. Working closely with a small team of experts, you will have a unique opportunity to play a leading role in migrating machine learning based solutions from R&D to product-level operational delivery.

Here is what you will get to do:

  • Working in a small-team, you will create and deliver commercial software services that automatically evaluate student writing. Primary responsibility is to create, test, and maintain machine-learning based services used in a variety of assessment and learning situations from K-20 and beyond.

You will need:

  • Strong leadership skills

  • A desire to own an application from concept to delivery

  • An ability to work independently and as a key contributor to a small team

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with an innovative, strategic, forward-thinking mindset

  • Diverse technical skills

  • An ability to evaluate alternative solutions and drive operational best practices

  • A focus on the processes and discipline required to make new innovations commercially scalable

Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • 4 years professional programming experience on Unix/Linux platforms; progressive responsibilities

  • 4 years’ required technologies: Python, Go, Mongo

  • Ability to develop robust, production quality code

  • Comfortable working with multiple and/or new programming languages

Preferred skills, interest in, exposure to, and/or experience with any of the following:

  • Artificial intelligence/natural language processing/machine learning

  • Use of Agile development methodologies

  • Docker and cloud technologies
