The Sr. Business Development Manager is primarily responsiblefor growing the GEDWorks Employer Program by prospecting and increasing theexisting account base. This is a external, direct sales role targetingcorporations within the United States that have front-line workers who couldbenefit from achieving a GED credential. The GEDWorks program provides thesecompanies with a turnkey solution to enable their workforce to earn their GEDcredential. The Business Development Manager will also be responsible formanaging key large accounts and ensuring customer satisfaction, and contractrenewals.

Primary Responsibilities

Sales and new account acquisition:

  • Promote the GEDWorks program to the business community and develop the required network to increase sales

  • Support Pearson sales team offering GED Works as part of a broader Pearson offer

  • Work with marketing team to increase awareness of GEDWorks program. Identify, qualify, contact, and close potential new accounts

  • Identify additional business opportunities or program needs/enhancements that can support the requirements of the business community

  • Establish relationships with key decision makers within the L&D, HR, and other relevant departments.

  • Lead submission of any proposal/solutions for prospects

  • Negotiate contract with new accounts

  • Attend industry conferences or trade shows as assigned

  • Build and leverage relationships with Business Roundtables, Chambers of Commerce, Workforce boards and other civic, business and political groups

Account Management:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with client personnel through formal and informal interactions

  • Service, retain, and grow a defined book of customers

  • Manage customer satisfaction for key assigned accounts. Work with a cross-functional team to ensure delivery of the program and increase in awareness and adoption of the program within the company


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree required

  • 6 years sales or business development experience required

  • Proven achievement of sales success in your current or most recent sales role

  • Experience selling in B2B market, to large customers, preferred

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency preferred

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of the consultative selling process

  • Solid business experience, acumen, and professionalism in the B2B market

  • Relationship management skills a must

  • Must be a good listener

  • Persuasive and influential communication skills

  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
