Pearson VUE has a number of products that are migrating to cloud based deployments. This role will help design and implement a common platform for cloud delivery of products and work with product teams to roll this out. Pearson VUE has adopted the principles of infrastructure as code with a development mindset for building and testing infrastructure with full automation.

A Senior Developer of Cloud Engineering has knowledge and experience of delivering products to Cloud infrastructure using continuous delivery techniques based on full stack automation. The Senior Developer will help build and develop the continuous delivery framework and collaborate with product teams to build pipelines for their products.

This position will work directly with a single team of engineers to define, build and support the continuous delivery pipeline and cloud deployment components. In addition, they will work with a Cloud Solutions Architect to refine vision and direction for the cloud deployment product. This position will use emerging technologies like Docker and Kubernetes to provide to the development teams a stable and repeatable execution platform from developers workstations to production servers. The cloud platforms targeted are AWS and Azure.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research & Design – 25%

  • Partner with Cloud Solution Architect to define and promote cloud deployment platform.

  • Create designs for the cloud delivery platform

  • Evaluate and research new technologies in cloud deployment and containerization technologies.

Team Leadership & Software Development - 75%

  • Work with cloud delivery engineering team to build cloud delivery platform used by multiple product teams.

  • Implement technical designs to further platform.

  • Provide code reviews of team members work.

  • Review and provide feedback on technical design created by cloud delivery engineering team.

  • Partner across various product teams to facilitate and launch products on cloud delivery platform.

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, other technical field or equivalent.

  • 5 years of relevant software development experience, solution design and technical architecture experience.

  • 1 years of networking experience required.

  • 1 years experience in cloud computing based services architecture.

  • 1 years technical team leadership experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, other technical field or equivalent.5 years of relevant software development experience, solution design and technical architecture experience.1 years of networking experience required.1 years experience in cloud computing based services architecture.1 years technical team leadership experience.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Cloud virtualization platform experience with AWS or Azure using services like EC2, S3, ELB, etc.

  • Container technologies such as Docker.

  • Build automation tools such as Packer, Chef and Puppet.

  • Building continuous integration and delivery pipelines with tools like Jenkins or Team City.

  • Test automation tools like ServerSpec to test infrastructure builds and InSpec for container tests.
